The Moon to have no-fly zones by month end

China, privatisation of space. Once private companies start earning money from space trips. I can see space missions ramping up fairly fast. Just need a tipping point in expertise, cost and revenue.

Seems quite sensible, it's only a polite request.

Its not crazy talk it makes absolute sense, I for one hope that all the apollo landing sites, bar one perhaps for scientific investigation are totally off limits and are never disturbed, its a rare environment that allows preservation of history on a scale never seen before, hopefully one day when we start living on the moon they will be 'bubbled' off and remain intact for as long as possible.

+1

I know there isn't one. I am asking why do they want one, and why now?

to prevent any damage to the sites, it's a curtsey thing (also it means anything interesting that has happened to the sites they get to check out first, ie they don't want some Chinese hick screwing things up)

Asteroids is what i want to see.

We've seen an unmanned probe land on one (or was it a comet?) I'd love to see a manned mission to a largely nickel iron asteroid.

So we can start the foundations of space mining, so that we can start building things in space from things found in space to massive reduce lifting costs.

even if it's crude by comparison to earth alloys etc, a basic mild steel frame or nickel iron alloy frame would be fine in space as it has much less stress o nit.

and because it doesn't have to be lifted it doesn't matter that it's cheap and heavy.

iirc it's about 100 years till micrometeorites/general space debris severely damages the sites (machinery pitted and broken, all foot prints gone) so the site will have to be secured and protected before then.

It seems they now want to try and stop any acceleration of the process which is most certainly understandable.

I picture a massive glass dome being plonked over the sites in the future, much like how I place a glass bowl over a spider on the wall then watch it go "WTF WTF WTF!!!" :p

McDonalds have got permission to build an outlet on the moon. No drive through allowed though!

Awesome idea for a game.

The year it 2065 and the first moon landing since the Apollo missions is taking place.

All if going well, with scientists taking various samples and the first permanent moon base structures being surveyed, when, suddenly, MUTATED AMERICAN TURD ATTACKS!

Chaos ensues, etc.

I dont think thats right m8, im sure Simulatorman will know better though.
