As the title states, which games do you find the most challenging and that rely the most on player skill?

FPS?
RTS?
MMORPG?
Race games? etc etc.

I personaly find FPS games like Red Orchestra and CS:S to be quite skill based. I used to enjoy World of Warcraft pvp but in my opinion it has recently become rather boring with certain classes keybashing their way to victory with very little ability or consideration for what they are doing.

So, which games do everyone else find challenging and fun to play? And which require the most player 'skill'?

I still enjoy PvP in Warcraft, even as a mage that just gets killed by everything.

Hehe, i also play a mage and it does get very annoying with all the DKs, ret palas etc running around.

After reading all the replies i think im going to give starcraft a go! I've never played it before but it sounds fun :)

Has anyone else played Red Orchestra or the mod for it Darkest Hour before? It's a bit old now but the gameplay is great when you get into it. I feel it has a good balance of realism and fun in it, and you feel a sense of achievement when you score kills (well i do anyway :p) unlike some of the other FPS games out there where you can grab any old gun that shoots a million rounds a minute and blast away!

There hasn't been much mention of any racing games yet, I myself haven't really played any on the PC but surely these must require quite a bit of skill to play well, especially using a steering wheel/pedals?

CoD4/MoHAA id like to say but neither of them enivitably compare to the skill in what i said above in my opinion.

btw i play cod4, so not a cs fan boi :p

I enjoy playing CoD4 most of the time, but i usually play with the pump shotgun and it can get very frustrating due to the large amount of people using guns which shoot a million rounds a minute (p90s etc), not to mention the fact it normaly takes 2 shotgun hits to kill people anyway, unless you are really close to them to begin with. Ah well, if that's how they have fun i'll just have to try harder :p.

CoD4 just seems to become either a grenade spamfest or a competition of who can fire the most bullets in the shortest amount of time, hoping that one will hit your target. It isn't so bad on quieter servers but on servers of 20+ people it can become a bit silly imo!
