The most youve overheated an engine and been ok?

A friend had a Corsa 1.5TD which had a coolant leak, it ran out and he went to the nearest fuel station and filled the system up with cold water from the air/water unit... Cracked the head :D

, or people who have driven 200 miles to a friend with absolutely no oil in their car (MonKeE ;))
Hell I drove my first car a couple of thousand miles (not in one go) with no oil registered on the dip stick, in order to try and kill it (wife was giving me grief for wanting to change a 'perfectly good car') and the little ******* would not die.

306 xudt 1.9 lump in my 3 door d turbo trim 306.

I kept getting temperature gauge variation from pointing top dead centre and just thought it was turbo lolz heat as I was still a mere 19 and mechanically retarded.

Then on the way back from a Bristol cinema trip it shot into the red and appeared to go off the top of the gauge. Didn't know what to do so eased off to 50, put heaters on full and pulled off at the next junction. Left it 10 minutes and nursed it home. Had a garage say the radiator was duffed. Probably did another 500 miles on it before it got part ex'd, plenty wih a warm reading on the temp gauge and it was fine.

My rad fans aren't working currently. Had numerous parts changed but it must be a dodgy connection somewhere. Anyway mine will go to 110 (just before the red) in traffic so I have to whack the heaters on to get it back down. I've had the stop light come on once - the first time I realised my fans have stopped working!

It's being sorn'd for about 9months now so I'll get it fixed when I bring it back on the road.

I love threads like these, Motors needs a "Car Maintenance Horror Stories". Like people who have gone in to complain about their brakes, only to find out that they've literally got barely any brakes left, or people who have driven 200 miles to a friend with absolutely no oil in their car (MonKeE ;))

My dad had a really old Astra Belmont that had no brakes. Was running on the bare metal. Sounded like a train when it stopped.
