the mr2 15 days in (see last post)

Loving it after 5 days now. been using it for my daily commute no problems whatsoever. Except when my anti hijacking immobiliser locked down my car for an hour stopping me from starting the engine.

Driving in the dry has been good, No signs of overseer. trc came on one time in the wet but no major dramas. as long as you don't go over 4k rpm and boot it in a ridiculous way the car is very civilised.

car is booked into my local garage for checkover and oil change. there might be a tiny leak from the t bar roof but that's inconclusive so far. Having the exhaust bungalow removed to open up the full bore of the apex hayabusa exhaust and see how loud it really is.

hooked up my old Sony tape cassette to line out adapter so i can have mp3 music through the oe headunit as it wont play cd through the cd deck. think the car has an 8 speaker setup including two subs from the factory.

Mph? Bad. since Saturday I've done about a hundred miles for about 15 quid very roughly. . when in boost heavily the fuel gauge literally drops at a visible rate.

I get 100 miles per £20 in my N/A Mk2 MR2 driving steady, I think your calculations are a bit out!

A lot of the driving is motorway at 70 or cruising in 3rd at 2k revs. the turbo hardly gets used.

Engine is stock except for bolt on apexi cone with heatshield and apexi hayabusa exhaust.

This or someone has changed the map and it is running insanely lean meaning your engine could go pop at any moment :p

Having previously owned a MR2 Turbo for ~2 years in the early 00's, I can confirm that 40mpg is completely impossible to achieve!

MR2 Turbos were all imports, so you sure its not in km still ? :D (100km = 62 miles, which would be about 25-26mpg on £15 which is a bit more realistic)

Best i got out of my old mr2 tubby was 26mpg

I average about 50/60miles per £10 of fuel on my 200sx mixed driving. I don't even think I've ever had 40mpg out of the mk1 which is a NA 1.6, calling shenanigans :D :p

I got 30mpg from a tank of petrol once with my mr2 turbo - but that was because I was running in my greddy td06 and never took it above 3k!

Has the speedo been changed? Been derestricted?

Glad you're enjoying the car buddy, has it got some decent tyres on it? The mr2 is very tyre sensitive.

I average about 22-23mpg but that is about 80% short town journeys, if you cruise at 70 with no boost then you can get very reasonable economy, mid thirties easily.
Another thing to remember Running Man is that the low fuel light comes on when you still have 10l left, so you can still go quite some way.

Yea maybe im wrong i was just trying to work out how many times id put a bit in and whether or not id set the miles ticker or not when i left the garage i bought it from.

Speedo is deffo in MPH i t has a MPH badge on it at the bottom.

In all honesty no idea if its been de restricted or not. From the way the only owner since import has looked after the car id say it is as it was when it came over from Japan, except the addition of fog lamps button and speedo SVA stuff etc. When u buy a car with a genuinel japanese air freshener in it and untouched genuine MR2 floor mats you think its not really been pummelled too much or messed with. The mods were done in japan, and the paperwork includes like the apexi intake manual and documentation from japan too..Its been over here since 2006 but visibily unmolested since then anyway. But does have a few bits of trim like TRD oil filler cap, TRD rad cap. Has a cross brace in the engine bay that looks similar to the TRD and has a front strut brace as well im not sure if they are standard of aftermarket.

It has 195 hankook something on the front and it has 225 toyo proxies on the back. Stock wheel size.

LOL?

That works out at 41mpg?

You are either not very observent and in reality you've done 100 miles on 30 quid or your idea of 'bad' is quite different to most peoples! :p

As i said i dont really know it could infact be £25, as i made several small trips to the petrol station. Last time i just stuck £20 in but that only filled a quarter of the tank:/
