So I'm off to Vietnam next month for ~7 days for "work"

Anyone been before and got any good tips on things to do, places to go and stay etc? :)

Halong Bay, it is jaw droppingly stunning.

Hanoi is a fantastic city really lively and not too westernised.

Saigon is a bit of a hole, nice and clean but far to westernised. The war museums and the cu chi tunnels are all good fun but remember to take everything with a pinch of salt they often don't present the most balanced version of events!

The poeple are lovely the food is great, especially in Saigon. Enjoy yourself it's a fantastic country.

I believe there's good surfing but better take your own board as Charlie dont surf.

Sorry for the seriousness of my answer,
where are you going? I spent 3 months in Hanoi and its a great place.

Advice? 1 thing for sure SMALL US DOLLAR BILLS! local currency is ok but you'll need USD for your visa and most places will take dollars but anything over a $10 bill is BIG money there.

What do you want to know?

PS you cant take a women into your hotel room by law in Veitnam.

Really?

Not even wives/girlfriends ?

I think it's pretty obvious what he means and yes it is illegal to take a local girl back to your room but obviously your wife is fine. The Vietnamese are trying to reduce the levels of exploitation in their country and should be supported in this.
