Got my keys for my new build today, flooring guy is now doing some initial work before the flooring arrives.

Got a bottle of champagne with the welcome pack which is nice!

Looks like we're exchanging and completing on the same day. Exciting yet also stressful. For me it's the end a period of 18 months from the first time I viewed the property. I lost out first time due to a higher offer than I was prepared to make. They pulled out so I viewed the property and then put in an offer. I then pulled out after 6months as it was a PITA(lots of new build issues). THe next buyer pulled out and I was contacted by friend who told me it was back on the market again and they knew I had not found another property. I discused with everyone again and was given assurance all issues sorted. So I offered again towards the end of June and now hopefully exchanging and completing on Wed. Only possible hold ups now might be me (not sure can get funds to them in time and didnt want to transfer too soon just in case) or lender (not sure they will get the money for Wed). Anyway, whatever happens, we're nearly there.

Lost that flat, but got accepted on another one middle of last week, 4 year old estate, 2 bed ground floor flat in Winchester. \o/

Mortgage AIP obtained last week; formal application made yesterday via independent broker (Countrywide)

Independent solicitor appointed for conveyancing; was same budget as the estate agent's recommendation but only down the road for me. Nominal fee paid so far for disbursements. Didn't trust the online quotes I got from a comparison site - a friend had a bad experience using one of them.

Spent 2h last night going through the planning documents of my estate. Nothing of concern thankfully.

Excited, but also a bit stressed. I can feel all my money saved over the last 8 years slipping away. My parents are going to be my rainy day fund for a couple of years!

Mortgage offer, contract and letter received for me to read and return. Is it worth getting worth being checked over by my solicitors or not much point if they are fairly standard?

Also awaiting draft contract from seller's solicitors.

Finally exchanged on Thursday and move in on Friday on our new place...

Been hell of a wait... only 4 in the chain but the bottom guy and our buyers had some problems with there transaction... First started the process April 29th and should have exchanged 5 weeks ago... thankfully most of our stuff is already packed up and ready to go...

house survey booked for tomorrow.

money paid for searches.

seller has given there solicitor all the fixtures/fittings/title deeds and any other paperwork to his solicitor.

seller on holiday for a week from saturday

briefed my mate (electrician) whos going into the property when seller is back from holiday to do a periodic inspection/scope out the work that needs doing in regards to adding new sockets.

i need to go in at somepoint again soon to measure up the kitchen properly ready for exchange (when i can click the buy button)

(obvs all subject to the survey coming back ok, i cant forsee any serious issues tbh but you can never be too sure)

all in all an exciting time which should hopefully produce a better result than the last place i tried buying

Transferred remaining cash to solicitors which should be with them today and supposed to be exchanging and completing tomorrow. Not heard a thing today and just keeping fingers crossed it happens. Having some days off as know I wouldn't be focused on work, at work (today through to next week) so it'd better do :). Just spent some of today cleaning the oven of the rented property - arrrrghhhh, hate cleaning burned on grease/fat in ovens

Got the mortgage offer last week accepted, but Virgin messed up term length. Awaiting the seller's solicitors to send the package over to get the ball rolling. Had the survey on the 24th but took the surveyor over a week to send it to Virgin...

Brave. Can take a few working days for the funds to clear.

We accepted an offer on ours two weeks ago. Buyers survey is on the 14th which is apparently only going to take 30-40mins to complete so assuming its not a particularly thorough survey. Having a few headaches getting our purchase in motion as we got married last year and my wife's surname isn't up to date everywhere. With so much paperless billing/correspondence, being asked for hard copies of everything is a real pain.
