yeah we basically wanted to cover a 15k loan from each set of parents but the broker said the minimum you can cover is this for £5 a month. Win! (ish, I would have to die for it to pay out which isn't win)

Do you mind me asking who that policy is with?

actually, £5 a month for £137k IF you die and eventually you will, 100% everybody does.

That must be a big loss maker for the insurer, unless it expires once you hit a certain age, and then the insurer is gambling that you make it to that age I suppose.

Can't remember how many months ago we had our offer accepted, but we've finally got draft contracts and searches etc. started.

One thing I'll say, I paid extra for a full building survey rather than a hom******s survey and what a waste of money that was. Literally it's just describing everything you can (and even can't) see and then saying to get a trademan who is an expert in that area out to examine it.

For example:
"<something heating related you can see like a radiator or boiler> - can't see any issues but would advise getting a certified plumber"
"<something electrical related you can see> - would advise getting a certified electrician"
"It has a flat roof extension - can't see any issues but would advise getting a certified roofer to check"
"Can't see the chimney - would advise getting a certified builder to checking pointing etc."

What a waste of money.

Thanks for the information guys!

We have a buyer for ours and offer accepted and our offer has been accepted on the house we want :D

We found out that we need a approved RICS surveyor to value our apartment and then send the report to house options plus so they can give us a figure that we owe back for the help to buy scheme we used on purchasing our apartment. I think it's a con as its market value vs the property sold for. Which ever is highest you owe back. It should be how much you borrowed vs sale price. Our place was valued at £117k from 3 different estate agents but sold for £112.5k as its the going rate at the moment. It's a con. This process takes up to 5 weeks which will allow you to complete, so just a heads up for anyone.

We are going with a mortgage advisor and letting them sort it, which is over the weekend. We are also signing our solitor papers to get it up and going. Exciting times :D

It is VERY STRESSFUL.

Our house has been on since July.
Apparently had quite a few viewings but for some reason nobody has made an offer (no feedback from estate agent as to why even when asked).
Got our first offer (way below our asking price (We have offers over for a reason) at the start of December.
They came back 2 weeks ago with a slightly improved offer which we declined but said we were prepared to meet them halfway.

Still waiting on the outcome but we are renting as well as paying the mortgage right now so we'll probably take what they have.

Then onto the waiting.... (and if they get gazumped, tough, they shouldn't have delayed for so long)

Well thanks to the solicetor dropping the ball I'm not holding keys :(

Oh yes sorry, we need some certificates that weren't sent.

It took less then 3 minutes of phone calls to get in order and send :(
