I remember downloading ISOs from FTP sites overnight, with auto redial and resume every 2hrs when the ISP kicked you off, and being chuffed to get 50MB a night.I remember downloading the demo for Q2 (or 3?) which was 38MB and took THREE HOURS.
I remember replacing a 300 baud modem for a 1200/75 then using the early Viewdata, Prestel and Prestel Gold services - then the early compuserve. I think it was Prestel that was used for the early online banking with the bank of scotland. Only they and the Clydesdale Bank did online banking in those days, closely followed by a small building society - I think it was the Leicestershire Building Society.
