I don't think anyone is going to pretend that the GIF thread was anything other than a lift from the other websites such as reddit, 4chan etc. If you're in a position where the GIF that you loved so much is not on GD then all you need to do is go to the site it originated from (this is all of them - every single GIF).

I genuinely don't understand the 'WAH, HISTORY!!' mentality.

What a shame. Mistakes happen though. I don't have any gifts to share right now so just imagine four or five NSF ones below featuring nipples and sweaty camel toe in gym clothes, etc.

I think it's more they didn't inform the people so it was just "lets not tell them, lets see if they find out"...

It was deleted by accident, would a new thread started saying "whoops, a thread has been deleted" really have improved the situation any? It wasn't intentional and it wasn't deliberately being hidden, people noticed fairly quickly and there's a new thread started now so I don't think there's a huge amount more to say about the matter. In keeping with the spirit of the thread, have a .gif.
