Footage caught by my son early Friday morning that i thought made a decent gif (Ground to cloud if you look close).[/QUOTE]

isn't that just the effect of rolling shutter? Like when you film an alloy wheel turning and at certain speeds looks like its going backwards?

Nope, Fork Lightening actually goes Ground to Cloud!, I remember watching a BBC Program about Storm Chasers, and they went into detail about what happens...

I'm not having that. I saw a legitimate vid where a guy went through a fairly thin vertical gap, and that was incredible, but no way is that one ^ real.

I'll agree its not believable but it is true!

like this.. basically there's a hefty dose of luck involved on top of tons of skill.

Not so much luck but a calculation of traveling forwards 1 foot for every 2 feet you fall (number may not be accurate) Skill yes luck..Not so much

clearly, water

Talking of wingman stuff, I suggest you look up the video on youtube of the two Aussie guys who do the bridge, one flies under, the other, over. Except, the guy who flew over, miscalculated and caught the far edge of the bridge (with spectators on). His friend, who flew below, quoted "I suddenly got very wet, yet it wasn't raining...It's then that I realised I was tasting the blood and splatter of my friend"
