The new Holden Commodore got revieled and.....

Even the VXR version?

yes

it was originally sold as the holden monaro if you look at the first top gear reviews

its just because nobody had heard of holden, there was no perceived brand confidence so they had to badge them as vauxhall

the cv8 is the base V8 model, the CV6 the V6 model, and the CV8-R was badged as the VXR

the cv6 / v6 model was dropped a while after introduction because nobody bought it, here or in oz

Nope, he means Holden Monaro.
Vauxhall just badge them as theres

Nope, it's a Vauxhall Monaro VXR. See the Vauxhall badge it on....

Many cars are badged differently, many of the cars that leaved the UK had many different badges on it, Vauxhall for the UK, Opel for the Continent, Holden for Australia. The badge makes no difference, they are all owned by GM and share so many bodyparts they may aswell be named GM.

Would you call the Renult Traffic van a Vauxhall Vivaro? After all it's just a Vivaro with a badge change...

Yup I knew about how the Monaro was sold under Holden, just didn't know whether the VXR version had been. Which looks like they did. :)

There's something of a mk4 vauxhall Astra on steroids about it - I actually quite like it.

Yes, but the monaro is an established car in the australian market thats been going for years - the americans call the holden / vaux monaro the pontiac gto

I know  I was simply pointing out an error, it's not a Holden Monaro VXR because it's called the Vauxhall Monaro VXR.

The VXR as you call them are a limited Edition model with not a huge amount made.
But saying that, they have now stopped making Monaros all together because the want to keep the name legendary :p

BTW They are built in a Factory in Adelaide, and the suburb is called Elizabeth. If you ever come down here, i suggest you avoid that suburb :p

How on earth can Holden constantly make such ugly cars and get away with it? I'd imagine that will sell like pork in Saudi Arabia. Maybe they're just using it to get more money out of Howard/Costello as the federal election is just around the corner

except it is a holden as thats what it was originally sold as over here. as they make it

its not vauxahll because they didnt make it. the car is all made in oz.

you can argue thats its the same because they are all part of GM, but doesnt change the fact that its not built by either a vauxhall or GM plant. Its made in holden's own in oz.

There is no Holden's own, it's all owned by General Motors. The car has a vauxhall badge thus it is a Vauxhall Monaro. Same way an Astra can be a Holden Astra if it leaves elmsmere port with a holden badge...

Also your 'holden's own' could well be renamed to feature the words 'GM' very soon with their factory renaming scheme;)

Its because they sell Like hot cakes down here

Although over the past few years they have been having sales problems because people are finally starting to look at cars from other countrys :D :p

And also due to this:

Would never happen.
The Government wouldnt let it happen, and the public wouldnt let it happen.
GM wouldnt be stupid enough to mess with holden like that.
The amount the government protects Australian built cars is ridiculous. The have saved the Mitsubishi Factory 2 or 3 times now.
Its why we have such expensive cars down here unless its made here.
There are more tarifs then you can poke a stick at other wise

because it would be seen as killing off an australian brand.

I think local brand identity is a good thing

I'm not talking about renaming their cars......trying to make a point that it's not Holdens own plant, it is a General Motors plant that make cars for the whole of the world.
