Well, after the 'spec me' and the 'what should I look for' threads, I finally went out and got the new car yesterday! :D

It's a black 2005 Mondeo mk3 2.0i Ghia X with leather/suede and sat nav (£1800 option from new!)

Got it from a car supermarket - after a bit of haggling, got them down to just under £6200, and I must say I'm pretty pleased with it! There's a few marks in the back seats, obviously the previous owner had child seats and kids with shoes on - but altogether it's fairly clean!

I've just got to sell the last car now to try and make some of the money back!

Few pics of the new toy:

A bit over priced according to Parkers but it's cheap when you consider someone paid £21k for that car 4 years ago

:/

What was it at before you haggled it down to £6200?

It was on the showroom floor for £8300 - I just laughed in their faces...

I pointed out to them that I had seen quite a few similar cars online for a lot less than that, and was going to them as I didn't want to travel long distances to look at cars. I pointed out a few things that were less than perfect, and they dropped the price.

Still a little more than I wanted to pay, but I think I've got quite a good one for the price. Will see me through the next few years anyway.

Nice car. No matter what car you buy, folk will say you paid too much. If you search autotrader you'll probably one a little cheaper, but does it really matter if you spend £500 more on a car if it's the right car and it'll last you a long time? It's peanuts compared to insurance, tax, depreciation and running costs. Enjoy your motor.

Nice, although £6k is ST220 territory :p

I've got the same sat nav unit and although the sat nav is pretty useless it's still nice to have. It can play MP3 cd's as well if you didn't know but only through the cd player in the unit itself.

I knew that - just didn't want the extra expense on fuel! ;)

How is the nav useless? If it gets you where you need to go, then it seems OK to me! I have a TomTom as back-up, but will stay with the built-in for now until I get totally frustrated!

I did know about the MP3 thing, but will probably be using my iPod anyway - thanks!

It just doesn't seem very good at directions compared to a Tom Tom. Some of the routes it suggest seem a bit odd at times.

Mine is still using its original 2004 disc though so yours might have been updated.

That said it will still get you there but I tend to use my TomTom more.
