****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

My work has them at a good pre-order price and 10% discount would put the icing on the cake.

But doing research on games, there's nothing that would interest me coming out for a good while. So I may as well wait for inevitable price drops, I'll stick to my DS Lite for the time being. :D

I know the feeling 2Thumbs, the games lineup right now is looking decidely weak for a while. I don't have a DS though, and had a good month so figured with the Tesco and Quidco deal I may as well go for it.
If Splinter Cell turns out to be pap, I'll just sell/trade it. Should get the tenner I paid for it back at the very least! Same with the console, if after a few months I'm not convinced, I'll just sell it on.

If the DS is any example though, we should see some good support and games starting to appear after a while.

I'm in a state of...it's cool...but meh. Now if Zelda was arriving on Friday it'd be another thing :D

In a moment of 'damn, I really am a geek' I have had odd flashes of nostalgia though when I realise the copy of Pokemon White I've got sitting here waiting is going to be the first in the series I've genuinely played for the best part of a decade. Pokemon really was the popular game of my generation; I remember when the first (and to some extent the second) lot came out, and everyone had the games and the cards; even sometimes the teachers.

Crazy the power of nostalgia really!

I cannot wait for the 3DS to come out, so excited. One thought I have is that the technology just isn't quite there yet with regards to the viewing angle. David at the 3DS blog mentioned something about there being a technology out there with multiple sweet spots but it being too expensive. Makes me think it'll be in the 2nd or 3rd gen 3DS. I just know i'll be buying it again in 3 years.

Don't think I've ever been this unexcited for a hardware launch tbh, it really is all about the games.

Had another go on the 3DS today.

a lot better impressions this time, tried Street Fighter, Nintendogs/cats plus some AR crap shooting targets.

Super Street Fighter was by far the most impressive and nearly got me pre-ordering until the salesman said currently they only have 3 games available (those 2 and pilot wings) :(

IMO the software is really lacking, and with the situation in Japan there is a real concern that the decent software is some way off...
