****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

The only (mild) interest I have in the 3DS is to see how long the gimmick of the 3d features lasts on such a small screen - Im sure Nintendo will sell bucketloads, Im just not sure that many games within a few years will implement this as a major feature/selling point

I never liked Rayman so I'll definitely be giving that a miss. NFL looks pretty good and I'm still in two minds about Splinter Cell, I haven't seen any real gameplay footage of it yet.

That's because they have not release any game play trailers for Splinter Cell, imo that isn’t a good sign, from what little ive seen they haven’t even bothered to bring over the mp part of the game :(

Bit of a fail imo, that Ubisoft racing game, Asphalt looks quite bad as well, I noticed that in the trailers the've tried their best to show as little actual gameplay as possible. I really wish that the better third party developers were able to get their games out at launch.

Although I don't plan to pick up a 3DS as I just got myself an XL, the trailer for Super Street Fighter IV has got me really excited about fighting games.

Can anyone recommend a good fighting game like that for the regular DSi?

Yeah, jump ultimate stars is excellent and absolutely insane in multiplayer. Unlocking and building different decks/rosters is fun and there's plenty to do/practise in single player. Getting passed the language barrier is a right pain, though, and I ended up going for the dodgy translated rom (which is very good). It's a shame we didn't get a pal release as this is the best fighter on the DS.

I managed to get my hands on one of these today!

Man oh man, they feel very nice in your hand. I played with the Black 3DS and it looks much nicer in the flesh.

The screen position still looks off to me though sadly.

The colours of the screen were incredible although I never got to try a game, only the augmented reality. Which is very impressive and good fun, I hope developers find a way to make great games with it, but I doubt it.

And the 3D effect? I would rather have it on than off though that being said. It gives a great sense of looking into another world when using the augmented reality function. I do feel this will have a huge part on immersion and I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised at how it has been done. :)

If I could buy it release day, I would.

Interesting review! Well gives me a little more hope.

Did head down to GAME this afternoon, and they didnt have a display unit.... but it is a small branch.

I would be a bit more in-depth if I had the time to play with it but I didn't.

It was fun nonetheless.

The trick you had to do was use the gyroscope to aim at the enemies on screen and pressed A to shoot them down. Great use of the gyroscope, not much use on a bus or somewhere sat down though if you wanted to twist your entire body.

Personally I think some people are being over critical in what they expect of the machine, the image does split if you look at the screen at an awkward angle but I'm not sure any one would play it like that.

Oh and also the touch screen is very solid but a bit small for my liking.

The thumbstick is better than the psps outward nubben as this one is inward it feels a lot nicer to use.

I'm probably sounding like a fan boy but I've looked at this objectively and find it quite amazing tech for a handheld machine.

Did you have issues with the screen size? I realised it's the same size as my iPhone 4 screen, which doesn't seem ample for gaming IMO. Then again I've yet to see a 3DS in the flesh.

It's bigger than the DS, DS Lite and DSi so if you've played any of those then you'll have something to compare it to size wise, it's slightly smaller than a PSP Go screen.
