The **Now Drinking** Thread

Went to a local tapas bar and tried a beer called Chimay for the first time and have to say I found it to be delicious.

It came in two verisions blue at 9% and red at 7% and while I usually find stronger beers to have a disappointing taste these were both great.

If you manage to find some local I highly recommend them!
 
Smirnoff Blue. Parents got me a bottle for Christmas 2 years ago, but I only recently opened it because I wanted to finish my open bottles of Russian Standard Platinum and Cape North first. Bit harsh, to be honest.
 
Some Ukranian (Voptuur - is how the letters kinda look, backwards R, the U's are both different) vodka with Co-Op coke. Yeah, I drink 'exotic' vodkas with cheap coke 'cos I'm cosmopolitan but haven't forgotten my routes!

Do you mean Khortytsa?

If so, how is it? I've seen it in shops before but never tried it as yet, but I'm always up for something new :)

That is the one indeed. It's actually really good. MUCH better than the standard stuff you get here (Smirnoff, Absolut, Glens). I'd possibly say it's slightly better than Russian Standard but not as good as Finlandia. Not a big fan of Grey Goose, appreciate the smoothness of it but I like my vodka to have a bit of bite which Grey Goose fails to give me).

It's definitely sweeter than the main ones, by a fair whack and the tastes a lot smoother too. Though, strangely it does smell very strong.

I've never seen it in the shops here, what does it retail at? My Dad used to live in Kiev and he was over the other week and brought me some over. I had much better vodka when I was over there, and I brought back a rectangular bottle with pictures of grain on it (don't know the name of that either) which was better but more expensive.
 
I can't remember off the top of my head, last time I saw it was in a specialist alcohol shop in York, but I haven't been back for a while. I have a worrying feeling it might have been there as a short time special which I've seen them do on some foreign brands, but I'll see if I cand find some again when I next go back.

This has also reminded me, I bought a bottle of Absolut from Tescos cheap a while ago because it came in a little leather jacket which gave me a giggle, so I've opened that up for a quick taste. It's alright, I've had worse stuff that cost more, and it was mainly just so I could display it in it's little coat. I mean it's just so cute :D
