The **Now Drinking** Thread

Had some pretty good beers @ Bier Stube tonight. They had some Oktoberfest versions of the classics like this:

Was very nice :)

Found a bottle of black bush in the cupboard, gonna have a few glasses of it to go along with the harp. Not the best irish whisky, but sure itll do.:D

Cabernet Sauvignon - out of a box :p

My palate is geared up for whisky so I can't appreciate good wine as much as other people so I just drink plonk. Tastes all right to me but I'm sure the wine lovers would cringe at the thought - same as I do at the thought of drinking Bells :D

Must be taking influence from here. Relaxing tonight with what was a Sierra Nevada PA and now a Duvel.

The Sierra Nevada wins hands down, but it's one of my favourite drinks so to be expected.

Jura Superstition.

I'm really not sure of it. I've mixed it before (I'm so sorry) and it's good for that but neat I'm not so sure.

Jura is a bit like Islay malts - you either like it or you don't. Try drinking it along with some food. I like Jura and some of the milder Islay malts with sharp blue cheese - there are few greater pleasures than a nice Roquefort or Danish Blue washed down with a glass of smoky, peaty malt :)

Couldn't agree more! Sitting with a lovely mature blue stilton to go with the Laphroaig.

Oh and it's just the 10 yo. It or the quarter cask are normally my go to whiskys of choice but Christmas should see a bit of diversity introduced.

I'm liking the Islay malts at the moment, but there's something not quite right about the Superstition. It's got a slightly diesely taste to it which might be what is off putting me, or the sweet notes.

That being said, I'm sure it'll get drank. I won't be having another dram of it tonight though, got a Singleton 12 (meh), Doublewood (my all time favourite) and a MacAllan 10 to choose from.

The 10yo is a good whisky but the quarter cask is first class and not a hell of a lot dearer - it's one of my stock whiskies, it's very unusual for me not to have a bottle on the shelf.
In fact, I've just poured a glass to have with some Castello Danish Blue :D
I can heartily recommend the triple wood - very nice expression and only £40 - well worth a punt :)

Haven't had Singleton in a while - very nice whisky.
If you like the Doublewood, have a try of the Signature which is a nice dram and, if you can stretch to it, the 15yo single barrel is an excellent whisky and the pick of the bunch from Balvenie (IMHO) :)

For the last two weeks I have been sampling Lemsip and all supermarkert own brand alternatives.... I can't bring myself to recommend any... (on a side note, does anyone know what happened to these Lemsip power pouches you could neck out of the packet?).

Now back on expressos after finally getting round to cleaning the machine (just a krups nespresso thing). Has anyone tried to self fill pods you can now buy?

CocaCola. Just waiting for a wine glass to drip dry and then it'll be some red wine. Opened last night, and amazingly I didn't finish it so best do it tonight huh?
