The **Now Drinking** Thread

Been trying a few different brands of low alcohol beers, more than passable, certainly an improvement over the becks and cobra ones (they're horrible).

Any chance you could post back your findings on the best ? It's getting that time of year when we all have a few more friends dropping in and it's nice to be able to offer the driver something different :) Cheers

... another coffee for me

Got another 9 or 10 to try but so far Bitburger drive has surprised me - I had a sip of one years ago when a friend was driving and didn't like it at all.

Alternatively Erdinger, it's got that slightly clovey belgium taste which distracts from the lack of alcohol.

Handily both are available in most supermarkets. Tesco also do a 0.5% cider which is passable (tastes more like a dry cider than apple juice).

Cheers for that, and look forward to hearing about the rest :)

Telescopi, why are you trying them? Do you not drink, or just drink a little bit and this is your way to be able to drink more beer flavoured drinks? Or is it like DrunkenJester (i'm going to make that name stick!) suggests and is for people who are driving?

Social commitments can see me put away 15 pints over the weekend, that's enough tbh so I find alternatives in the week. Not really a fan of soft drinks and they all rot your teeth anyway.

Hoegaarden. Very citrusy drink, pleasant and very carbonated too, my favorite of the 2 tonight, seems to have a cleansing effect on the pallet.

On the carlsberg tonight, my local offy is all out of guinness. Trip into town after work tomorrow should sort that.

Thats the stuff you were on last night mate, any good?

Yes mate same stuff, she brought it home in one of those dine in for two deals. You get a four pack instead of a bottle of wine ... suits me better :D
It's ok matey but I'd only buy it as the meal deal.

From the Haacht Brewery, Boortmeerbeek, Belgium ... 5%

Not much of a wine drinker either tbh. Give me any sort of beer over the vino and im happy.:D

Man after my own heart :D

Oh and for the record, the pic on last page asking what the label was all about.... I turned the bottle round and at the top it says:

Until 1929 the Haacht brewery was also a fully functioning dairy farm.

:D

Lol, at least they had the sense to move to beer. I wish dale farm would do the same, it'd be a lot more pleasant to work in.:D

The same for me at bushmills lol, till we were replaced. Dale farm on the other hand, it is dire tbh, so dirty the rats moved out.
