The **Now Eating** Thread

There's this bloke who hangs around the underpass who can get you any white powder you want...

I bought a 454g bag of Monosodium Glutamate from Amazon that should last me for years.

Bought mine from Amazon as well and at a similar size.

Played a gig at a private party yesterday and there was free food. Lots of lovely lasagne and very crispy chips, coleslaw and garlic bread followed by a slice of birthday cake with a chocolate enrobed strawberry.

Generally you don't need to use a lot of MSG. Rather than keep accessing the big bag I put some in a small spice jar (previously emptied and that came with holes suitable for shaking under the lid) so I can add a dash whilst cooking.

Silly question but what does it add? Do you follow a recipe thats has it in or add to Chinese cooking in general as you know it’s ingredient X

Trying to work out if I should order some or not.

It improves flavours and should be used imo*

I sometimes use it in basic meals and the OH goes silent for a while and then states I can make that again.

* In small quantities

It adds umami. Use a sprinkle when cooking savoury dishes.

Here's an entertaining deep dive by obsessive types:

Not watched the whole video but lmfao at asking Gugga to attend as he only knows how to smother everything in salt, garlic granules and cracked pepper :cry::cry:
