To celebrate a week off work got Two large from Dominos, one half Texas BBQ with onions swapped for extra chicken, other half Sizzler with onions swapped for extra tandoori chicken. Second pizza, half chicken feast, half Meteor with bacon swapped for extra meatballs and BBQ sauce swapped for regular tomato sauce.

That should keep you going until dinner time.

It is not the best time for the hob to have broken but still managed to make a nice Christmas eve meal. All my favourites from finnish christmas dinner (home made cheese, gammon, baked swede mash, smoked salmon and home made mustard) plus roast potatoes, honey roasted veggies and yorkshire puddings because the other half wanted those.

Baked swede sounds amazing. Is it just oven baked swede mash, or is there more to it spice/prep wise?

It is very good, slightly sweet and spicy!

I boil the swede (1kg or so) and then add in dou le cream, table spoon of dark syrup (finnish ingredient but can leave out or add golden syrup), salt to taste and then pinch of all spice, ginger and pepper. You can also add nutmeg if you want but I dont like it. It is then put into a oven dish, topped with breadcrumbs and few pieces of butter and baked in 150c for 2 to 3 hours. You can cut down the baking time in a hotter oven I am sure or just not bake as long if you are impatient.
