The numbers are in... (MW3, Skyrim)

I'm so glad Skyrim has done well. More so because it doesn't have a sniff of multiplayer about it. So you don't need multiplayer to sell games, developers! Leave it out as appropriate!

I am personally really pleased for Skyrim, it's a brilliant and fantastic game.

Call of Duty? Well, I took it back.

passion for game

Passion for the game? What the hell does that mean?

I would consider myself "passionate" about very games I've bought over the years, does that mean I just want to be "part of the crowd", or are you trying to imply people buy it just so they can look cool?

People buy games because they want to have fun, clearly the CoD games fulfill that requirement and as a result, people buy them.

Stop whining about the sales figures of games you don't like and go play the ones you do.

this the voice of reason, couldn't agree with you more.

heh, 4 of my mates on the TS server i play ArmA with were playing MW3. i was in the channel and they invited me on. I was like ehh nah iv not really got the money for it sorry guys. And one of them just gifted it to me.... So i logged in played with them for one evening. Was fun because there was someone to game with. Logged out havnt loaded it since. Skyrim.... Well thats another story. Was well hyped and for once i think this game surpassed its hype. And i disliked previous Elder scrolls games. This one however has reeled me in hook line and sinker.

Thing is, most people on OcUK who complain about a game they don't like, end up purchasing the game anyway or are currently playing it.

I wonder what the % of people who returned the game or sold it on, I know I'm one of them for Call of Duty. :D

This isnt just simple to say the gameplay is rehashed and so on.

You have to look at the gaming industry as a whole, then wonder what the effect of Activisions RRP price rises on other developers/publishers has.

Then you have to think, why should developers even care about making games with a lot of depth, when Activision can sell mindless games for little effort with a massive profit margin?

By developers i don't simply mean the company, i mean every single person working in the industry, the mindset is not going to help in long run.

Of course it all falls down to the consumer in the end, which makes the discussion almost pointless.

This is sort of the problem I have with RPG type games though, whilst it may have a great story I find it tedious to play in order to get to the story. I'd rather read a book...

Interesting, what has grabbed you about it?

People like me, I'm on the verge of buying Skyrim even though I'm convinced it'll only get a few hours and then be forgotten. I just want to see what all the love is about! :D

I rented MW3 and enjoyed the story and spec ops.

Told the Mrs to get me Skyrim for Christmas as still have GoW3, Batman AC and Halo CE to play\finish.

And the fact Skyrim isnt multiplayer means I can wait till next year to play it, without worrying about number of people playing etc

Would love to know how many copies of MW3 / BF3 are currently unused thanks to Skyrim. I'd logged about 15 hours on BF3 but haven't even loaded it up since Skyrim came out. That game is all consuming. Cannot imagine leaving it until completion and at the rate things are going now that will probably be early 2012.

Game of the year but such a long long way.

Dunno about that, TOR will probably get it when it comes out 2 weeks before the end of the year, it's weird how games like that get GOTY, i think Dragon Age got it for an end of the year release, and it hadn't been out for long at all.

I haven't played Skyrim but if its anything like Fallout 3 then I can't imagine who will play it... the game is ok but it gets so boring after a while. Me don't like RPGs I think.

 Who will pay it?

same as sims and fifa

The thing about Fifa is it is convenient to just get the new one with the updated players etc, but i agree that they are a bit stale. They have got to the point now where they don't necessarily need improving, and a database update would be perfect every year, though obviously that will never happen.
