Anyways was just looking through the various reviews of 8600gt's and found the MSI one to have an OC button lol!

The overclocking button. When depressed, the card stays at Nvidia's reference clocks. When pressed, the card is overclocked to 580 core, 1276 shader and 800 memory. You can press and depress the button on the fly without worrying that you will toast your graphics.

tbh that to me seems like a pretty neat idea, I know you can set stuff up on riva tuner etc but nice to see a manufacturer offer a nice on/off overclocking option for the average joe!

Then again can you imagine a certain someone with this button on his card? OMG :D Blow those mutha's away

Heh I thought the same :). It seems a bit of a gimmick though, why not just run it at the higher clocks by default? I recall that it throttles back when not using 3D acceleration anyway - IIRC they have since the 5800 series.

but the mem doesnt throttle back it stays at whatever setting it is at in OC level! So this is in turn could be a good idea as I would assume it brings your mem down to stock settings also

True, but if this is possible then it begs the question, why don't the drivers do this? The mobile versions throttle the mem clock, so why not the desktop ones?

Totally pointless, If I used that to overclock I think I would find it more annoying than helpfull or usefull, going behind my case to overclock?? lol, I would rather use ATi tool than this pointless feature thats most likely gonna up the cost of that card.

Its a good idea but i would prefere if i had a overclock button above the power button which is preseted to run the gpu, cpu, ram everything on the highest overclock.

Would be great :) lets be honest we dont all run at OC speeds ALL the time! I downclock back to stock for my CPU when I aint gonna be gaming, its annoying yes but still!

The turbo buttons of old did suck tho lol

Clearly a panel with the button for a free bay on the front of your PC would be ultimately better though for this single OC button

When I downclock when I aint in games (150/300), I use ATi Tool and load a profile, its much much much quicker than going behind my case and pushing a button :D
