League definition of a Cutback:

Many players particularly in Ranked mode choose solely to use the dirty cutback to net them goals, many of us have become annoyed at this technique and yet there is much confusion on what is and isn't a cutback. We have now reached the point where almost all wing play is criticized and most crosses are wrongly called a 'cutback'.

Image 1: Here we see the cutback specialists favorite squad Barcelona in action. In this image Messi is seen entering the box on the premium path for most Cutback players, here he is heading for the highlighted area so that he can make his pass (Not cross) back across the box in a diagonal to the approaching striker, who will tap in the goal. Unfortunately for him Henry is a complete prat and has made a crap run ahead of him into the box, silly Henry.

Image 2: In this image we can see that Henry has made use of him self and gotten into a classic cutback position ready to deliver that diagonal ball back to Ronny so that he can hoof it in. Here I have actually pulled up a lot shorter than the veteran cutback players who would be heading for somewhere around the highlighted area towards the touchline, with this Ronny would receive the pass inches from the net and only have to tap in the shot whilst the keeper was sucked into Henrys feet. Then nature of defending in FIFA means that it is hard (yet not impossible) to track both Henry and Ronny as they enter the box so often the result is players bundling the man with the ball and seeing the defense split apart. If more strikers are crashing the box things become even harder.

These are a little rough as Im not a cutback Vet myself and was playing against an unmanned player 2 controller hence the defense is a little sleepy.
Where we believe issues pop up is when players play down the wings and tipple tap the cross button to drill one across the box, this in the eyes of the league is in no way the same as a cutback goal. If anything its clever play and can often net you a nice own goal or two to laugh about. Yet there have been times where people have cried wolf on this type of play. The only move we would consider a cutback is that which I have tried to illustrate here today even then it is not frowned upon until used excessively, without any variation of play. Later on I may post some tips on how I defend against the move but for now I need to pop to town. Don't rant at my examples too much please. :p

I am going to get so creamed!

You'll be fine I've gone from cup finalist to 10th to dead bottom of division to a top 3 finish! with the amount of games in the league this season you will get plenty of practice on the pitch and enough players to scrap with wherever you are in the table. :)
I'll give you a friendly practice match later if you like.

Wrong. It's as good as the same thing.

One is parallel to the line and the other is diagonal, but both the leave the defence and the keeper nowhere. We don't like the cutback goal because it's a cheap tactic, and so is the triple cross.

If anything its clever play and can often net you a nice own goal or two to laugh about.

How you come to that conclusion I'll never know. It's just as easy as a cutback.

Your completely wrong as usual and arguing again, the triple tap is nowhere near as hard to defend against and results in far less goals. Your borderline complaining about any move against you that beats you, its comical. This is the league definition and there will be no more complaints on the issue. Especially from you.

Triple tap cross is fine imo, the problems arise when the same tactics are used over and over again, and the cutback goals are just cheap and involve little/no skill. I can be playing online trying to get goals from pretty much every other means, the opponent scores, I get a little frustrated and can pretty much instantly get a goal back through the cut-back. But that's pretty boring.

Other annoying things include shooting from kick off and the penalty thing where the keeper just walks across to one side of the goal ensuring a save if the striker puts the ball pretty much anywhere on the side he's moved to.

I'd suggest banning that particular penalty saving technique as it's more of a glitch than anything as (afaik) the striker can't change the direction chosen once the shoot button has been pressed even if the keeper moves to one side before the player has made contact with the ball.

I'm not completely wrong at all, it may seem like I'm arguing for the sake of it but I'm genuinely not.

A cut back goal is where you get to the by line and cut the ball back across the goal to your striker who resides on the edge of the area, and smack it in whilst the keeper is still on the near post.

A triple tap cross is exactly the same except you can do it from further away. You'll notice when you run down the wing for a cross your keeper comes to the near post to cover, this leaves him in the same vulnerable position that a cutback would. Then you simply have to triple tap and your striker that's always on the edge of the area just taps it in.

There a million and one things that people use to beat me in this game, most of them are genuine and skilful that are worthy of credit to the good player. I only complain about the crappy, cheap tactics that people exploit to the max to try and get a undeserved and cheap win.

Regarding what's comical, I won't go any further as you may get offended.

Well I apologis in advance if I do anything that looks like a cutback, I assure you it will down to button mashing and nothing else.

Besides I much prefer playing through the middle and scoring spectacular (or perculiar) goals anyway.

The penalty thing annoys me greatly, I posted this withi nthe original thread.

Look at it this way, you have 9 places to put the ball. top left, middle left, bottom left. Top middle, middle and bottom middle. Top right, middle right and bottom right. Which is an 11% chance of guessing correctly.

Moving the goal keeper you have a 33% chance of guessing correctly, as you only have three choices; left, middle or right. As the keeper will save high or low in that direction.
