The OcUK Steam Community Group

Just thought I'd update you fellas with the situation on making this private.

A group can't be made private once it's been public, so there will need to be a new group formed. It'd be good to keep the OcUK url and the proper name but that would mean the removal of the current group. That would involve Hessian kicking every member then leaving the group himself. Then it'd be a case of me making a new group (it looks like only the founder has proper admin rights at the moment, well I don't seem to have any as an "admin" put it that way) and then I'd create a new thread where people can state their details and get an invite to the private group.

Your thoughts?

Three is a good bit of stuff left to be implemented i would bet. It is still currently pretty limited. It's quite annoying finding out what games people are playing. There should be a button that opens a window showing who is playing and what then letting you join, rather than having to view the groups details. A bit like the friends list but for the community groups.


Zefan, it sounds like a right pain just to make it private, which won't really give any benefit, other than for the odd time we want to play on a private server. People can always be banned from the group if they are being a pain.

iirc, the chat window shows what games people are playing, but they need to be in the chat room. =/ Still a way to go, but I think it a good start.

That's a good point, the fact is there are certain people that will do anything to get the chance of damaging our community and I want to keep that to a minimum if I can.
 
Yeah would be good to pester them for a public/private toggle.

Just passed 100 members, which is great :)
 
I'm all for making the group private.

Make membership fall under the same conditions as the members market i.e. you can only join after so many posts.

It means that anyone who really wants in can get in easy enough and troublemakers probably won't reach the required number of posts anyway.

I'm not sure if it was an update on their part or if everyone was blind (including me), but there's a link beneath the member list to see what everyone's status is now :)

Ah cheers for pointing that out. Cool seems like you can join games from there as well.

Its always been there as long as ive been a member, but the status needs to say what server ip they are in.. i want to join the one with the most OcUKers..
