*** The official 2018 MacBook Pro thread (it has six cores and everything!) ***

What do you need the 32GB for -- unless you're developing on it? In which case you can't have a Windows laptop anyway...

4K Video editing and photography editing - regularly hit 20-25gb now in LR for example now THANKFULLY Adobe have programmed it properly to use system resources for speed - life is much better now.

That’s is a pretty nice bit of kit. Even the price isn’t too bad.

Indeed, I really want the Apple eco system, but it looking like no useful macbook pro machines on their way to customers until 2019, I may have to simply get that and use it for the rest of the year - look after, it and sell it on when the apple equivalent comes out.

Unless you really need the GTX 1070, the 2018 Dell XPS 15, offers 6c/12t and a GTX 1050 at a significantly cheaper price.

I really need the 4k 100% Adobe RGB screen and very long battery life - does it offer that ?

The 4K panel Dell offer is 100% Adobe RGB coverage, and the battery can be up to 97WHr, which is 3WHr from the maximum allowed by air lines.

It's only just been released to buy, but they also offer the range topping 8950HK processor, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB PCI-e SSD, for a similar price as the other laptop mentioned.

As usual haggling with Dell on the phone or live chat will normally net you 15-25% off, depending on the time of the month. :)

Interesting what model is this? I just looked on the website and nothing is on there, I don't want an alien ware one as they are awful looking....is it a similarly slim and simple design as the gigabyte?

I’d want to wait for reviews, I’ve got an early XPS13 and the cooling is barely adequate. They will need to have improved a lot for me to look at an XPS again.

We've had a bunch of issues with the xps15 model from last year, maybe 1/3rd of units have developed faults across all our developers who have them. Personally I'm staying clear of them.

That's a shame its the only obvious one for content creators who don't want silly gaming looking laptops.
