Maybe it just me but i feel it kind of strange that you can buy a cellular iPad but not a cellular MacBook.
As surely people would use a 13" or 14" MacBook in many of the same places as you would an iPad (specially a 12.9 ipad)

The speeds are decent when tethered to a phone, I do it quite often when bringing my Macbook into work (avoiding connecting to the company wifi)

Indeed,

Applecare has always been awful for me, maybe it's more viable in a city, out here in the middle of nowhere it's nothing but a ballache and takes forever to fix/replace anything.

So it seems to be cheaper to get contents insurance than it would be to cover a couple iPhones and a MacBook?

You will need to check the policy details, most will only cover you for at home accidents.

I never even checked it to be fair, was very happy to find out such an expensive item was covered by standard, makes me wonder why I bothered individually protecting my watch collection.

I've bit the bullet as a popular place was doing 10% off the 10 Core 16 GPU, 16GB, 1TB Model and also offering their "Pay in 5" option! Very Excited to be back on MacOS - I've only had my work Surface Laptop 2 as a computer for a while now and I intend on using this for BYOD at work and also personal projects

It's here... and it's beautiful!
I forgot just how good context switching is between full screen apps using the multi touch touchpad is - it really makes such a difference

I’m considering getting the MacBook Air M1.. Tempted to sell my envy x360 to fund majority of it as having two laptops does seem a bit of a waste. Decisions decisions. I actually want to learn swift too but the 8gb ram makes me a bit nervous. I’ll probably research more and see.

I struggled slightly with 8GB RAM on the Mac Mini that I bought a while back for testing (wanted to see how it functions as a BYOD for work) that I returned and now have the M1 Pro with 16GB. I was tempted to go for a custom build with 32 for peace of mind but the deal was too good on this model and if I do truly struggle in time to come I will sell and rebuy a future iteration.

I use mine daily and I've never had an issue due to 8GB of RAM, or any issues at all.

Surely you could connect to the company WiFi but connect through a VPN you have at home , say on a Raspberry Pi

That's a lot more effort for sure compared to just tethering to my phone, and our company WiFi is heavily linked to the company server - just easier to be detached from any company equipment via phone.
