Can you think of any changes, no matter how small you may have made, either software/hardware or settings.
Is your Mobo battery connected correctly?
Is the CMOS Reset jumper in the right position?
If it is stable then i cant see it being heat related so maybe the Mobo is losing power at shutdown, do you turn off the PC at the Mains?

I turn it off on the PSU as it has an annoying red light on it that lights up my room at night! When I restatred a miniute ago it did the same thing. I cant think of anything else I changed I just decided to leave it how it was once it reached 3ghz and saved the settings, as I didn't want to put it too hard.

I will just check out the CMOS reset jumper now, i've not taken it out myself so it should be ok? I did have to take out the battery tho so i will give it a poke!!

Edit: I dont actually think there is a CMOS reset jumepr on this boad I can see one and there is no mention in the manual?

Same Mobo as me and im sure there is, i would say that the battery is not seated correctly and as you turn the PSU off you are losing power to your mobo hence it losing its Bios settings.
The same happened to me on a skt 939 mobo.

Its bottom right, under the SATA ports.

Yep found it, not in the most obvious of places tho!! Hopefully I should get it sorted now.

You can stick some blutack on that led if the light bothers you. Turn the NB volts up and make sure its cooled with a fan

I have a spot cool on the NB, It crashes otherwise. I've never thought of the bluetac idea I will have to try find some lying around :D

Here is my latest clock, I have to be a bit carefull I think because it loads into windows with 1.62vcore, .1v more then in the screenshot.

I'm 6 down on the vcore menu from the max vcore this board will give, is it safe to go further anyone know?

Which cpu core# faces the back on this board, #0 runs 3c hotter then #1 and its always the one which fails first

I replaced the stock NB heatsink with a "Zalman ZM-NBF47 Fanless Northbridge Cooler".

Firstly it was a right pain to install compared to the stock heatsink and secondly its not as good! PC crashed a few times playing C+C3 after I installed it so I checked the temperature.... 130 degrees. Thats after about 5 mins of C+C3, where as the stock one doesnt go above 100 after 30mins...even thats a bit hot so im gonna get a fan for it but its better than the zalman!

Sorry to hear that. I tried to pry the heatsink off but couldn't as I didn't have a delicate enough tool to snip the pins with. Did you apply the thermal goo properly? If so, i'm glad I didn't waste my time.

still not sure why peeps feel the stock cooler isnt adequate, ive ended up removing the 80mm fan i had fixed to the heat sink and just have a low speed 120mm fan blowing onto the motherboard from a distance. chipset running orthos is just warm to the touch. All it needs is a little air flowing over it i recon.

Exactly what I eventually did, bar it being a 92mm fan blowin' on it. :D

Any joy getting it sorted?

Sorted I think! It did 5 shutdowns/restarts in a row before it wouldn't even restart form windows. I pushed the battery in a bit more and reset the CMOS with the jumper but I suppose only time will tell. :D

Update I turned off my pc and left it for sometime while building a table for the kitchen, came back and the same problem all over agian grrr. Might try putting everything to stock and see if it still does it. Thats one for the morning I think though!

Could be a memory issue. What are you running your memory at?

Ok looking to upgrade to conroe and am just stuck on which mobo to get at the mo.

Now I have been looking at the ABIT Fatality 650 but there seems to be a few probs with that at the mo, like the bios being carp.

So I have read some of the posts here about the Asus 650 and it looks more like what I am after.

But I have a few questions first:

I am on watercooling and using a Storm G4. What I need to know is will it fit on top of the CPU ok. Could somone measure and make sure a storm will fit, the dimensions of the Storm are - 10cm x 8cm.

Also I was going for the PC2-6400 Teamgroup ram but is this really necessary as the memory wont affect the cpu overclock? Would this ram be ok - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-082-OC

I also saw that Crucial Ram RMAs are good as there in the UK but after looking around OCZ seem good for RMAs as well, plus the OCZ is the same price as the Crucial and its PC-2 8500. What other memory would people recommend for good overclocks but has a good RMA service?

Lastly would you master overclockers think that I could get an E6600 to 4ghz bearing in mind its gonna be on water, but the Northbridge won't be.

Thanks for any advice given.
