** The Official ASUS P5N-E SLI & Ultra 650i Thread **

Hi Guys .i was wondering what kind of CPU temps you are all getting before you start to over clock .mine is running at 33 just sitting on the desk top .i have a T.T on it but i only have the fan running slow as on high it does me head in .i have the fan blowing the hot air out the back of the case now .but to be honest it was running a little cooler when i had the fan blowing down in to the case

would the Zalman ZM-NB47J fit the southbridge if not wats a good heatsink for it as mine is getting very hot

ok i just changed the fan in the T.T and its not making a sound now .temps are now at 31 .does this sound ok before i start over clocking .

i have a Zalman ZM-NB47J Northbridge Cooler i was wondering the same if it would be ok for the SB

I tried one of the zalman northbridge coolers on the southbridge and it does fit. I found that it wsant really that effective but that could have been an case airflow issue. I ended up using an Akasa AK-210 Blue LED Chipset Cooler which seemed to work slighly better. I cannot hear the fan when the side panel is on the case and it does look quite good with the blue LED. Keeps the s/b to 41c when orthos has been running for 4 hours or so.

Hmm just flashed the Bios with 0505 and it now locks the CPU multiplier both ways i.e. my E6600 will only run at 9x and not 8x as before.

Checked the Asus forums and others have confirmed this. Not sure if it's a bug or if they have meant to lock it down.

Hi Guys

ok this is my very first overclock so please go easy with me .at the moment i have my memory UNLINKED and my FSB is running at 1951 .the temps are a little high at 53 but they come down to about 40 after i come out of orthos i have been running for over 4 hours with no problems .i did have it at 3.5 but it was locking up after about 90 mins in orthos .so heres a pic of what i have so far .

I've read through here and seen some interesting results with the E4300. I'm trying to get one to 3GHz but have got stuck.
I managed to get orthos stable for 10 hours then the PC rebooted, this was at 2.7GHz, 9x multi, 1200 FSB, 1.5xV on NB, 1.5V core (no +100mV). drooped to 1.44V on load. mem clocked at 800 4-4-4-15, 2.2V (ocz stuff at rated defaults, manually set).
I can't get the fsb any higher than 1200 even with 1.7x volts on NB (and lowering the multi to 6x to make sure it's not the cpu limiting). I have 2 60mm fans sat on top of my 8800 320MB card pointing at the NB.
temps at 2.7GHz were 47cpu and 41 NB on load.
BIOS is 0202 and I'm running unlinked (obviously!)
I've dropped back to 1156 on 9x 1.5xV NB, 1.5V core (2.6GHz) to check the stablility again since orthos only lasted 10 hours at 2.7GHz. mem at 805 4-4-4-15 2.2V

Any ideas where I might find some improvement?

I can't get my 8800 320MB BFG OC (550/1600) to clock at all above stock, apart from the brief hour it seemed to work at 600/1800, now it won't clock to 575/1700! But that's for another thread......

no cooling on SB yet but I plan to put an old 486 heatsink on it, I have some heat transfer double sided sticky sheets which should do the trick to keep it on.
The thing is, this mobo is supposed to support 1333 cpus so it should be capable of this speed with no board mods. I admit I've not tried that actual speed, I've tried 1250, 1300 and 1600 with the multi at 6x, no luck at all.

That's a very, very good overclock on an E6300. It's knocking on a 100% overclock which is pretty incredible really. Nice to see a positive post on here as well as the ones needing assistance.
