*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

Ok, what was this that I clicked yes on installing when hurrying earlier? This icon is sitting next to my shadowplay icon now, buggered if I can find out what it's for!

I couldn't resist jumping in for a quick blam. And I love it!

The first couple of tries crashed fairly soon into the game with a "DXGI error device removed". If it helps anyone, I resolved this by setting Link state power management to disabled in Windows advanced power settings.

I only had a quick 10-15min blast around the Rotterdam map, 64 player conquest but I really enjoyed it. It feels much better than BF1, which I've hardly played at all since buying.

The old i5 and 780 weren't too shabby either:

1080p60Hz, I set it to the "high" detail preset (which also enables vsync), FOV to 85, limited FPS to 60 and set motion blur to "0" and framerate was usually hovering at or very near 60FPS, with one brief drop to 52. GPU usage did hit 100% a lot though so I'll lower some settings to medium and see if things improve.
CPU usage was high but not as high as I expected it to be - it didn't sit flat-out at 90-100% like I feared it would.

Here are my AB graphs if anyone wants a butchers (click through twice for full res):

Went into the fg42 customisation and found this....hooray, a feature everyone wanted back! The old teleport through bullets, flames explosions to poke your enemy to death charge.

Just when I thought they may have actually learned a thing or two from BF1

That bayonet charge was one of the dumbest things in the game, at a certain range the player doing the charge is invulnerable to everything. I can't see it being different in this as it was a canned animation in BF1.

It's just a completely unnecessary gimmick - a cheap, easy way of grabbing a kill when 9/10 times as you say, it's impossible to counter it.

I suppose the one good thing is it looks like a perk/ unlockable attribute, so it's not enabled for everyone by default at least.

The player charging is not invulnerable to anything. The problem was for the recipient that they got locked into a dying animation at the last moment. I frequently manage to sidestep charges though. A 3rd person observer can kill the charger as normal.

Yup....

Starting to look like they have taken 1 step forward and 2 steps back as per usual....

Thankfully game not pre-ordered/bought!

Are you having second thoughts about it then?

The bayonet charge/weapon and vehicle buffs in this beta, even if they include them at release, should be unlocked in the beta so we can actually try to assess whether there is going to be any semblance of balance in the game. Instead they're testing the rate of unlock progression on us and not letting us decide whether we like the real (buffed) gunplay.

I've had them run through flame thrower fire, lmg fire, even a rocket gun shot. It's not that hard to sidestep but if they catch you in close it's almost a guaranteed kill as their range of vulnerability is much less.

Lets just say, seeing the same old mistakes made yet again.....

Address the main complaints such as gunplay, then go and add those skill tree/perks.....

Bayonet charge is fine AS LONG AS, it doesn't put the victim into a locked in animation which happens a good few seconds before the player is even near you...... That and at least have a way to counter it, certainly if you are facing said enemy player charging you from the front.....

£90 well spent then :p:D

Does everyone else's CPU's go absolutely balls to the wall for usage on all cores when the round finishes and you go the scoreboards and stats screen? All of my 6 cores get smashed @ 100% usage, my rad fans go bananas trying to stop them cores going over 80c.

Have you set a frame rate cap? In the alpha my CPU fans would go mental on the menus as the framerate suddenly went up to 400+.

It most certainly was.

SWBF 2, unravel 2, anthem, crysis 2 & 3 and BF 5 for a year and no doubt there will be a lot of other games to come ;)

BF 5 is good and a **** ton better than **** field 1 but the game is far from perfect and this beta has revealed some potential problematic gameplay issues such as the skill tree (as we have all said, once you equip the perks, the STG goes from being meh to WOW OP!), like I always say, you should not have things like this in a game and if you do, certainly not as "unlocks".

And as Josh said last night, not being able to switch team..... as you know yourself, that is going to be a right PITA, especially when we have as many on as what we do......

I wonder how big the day 1 patch is going to be...a few gigs at least i would imagine. It's pretty obvious this game is going to launch in a rough state to say the least, this one month delay isn't going to be enough to sort out the obvious issues.

I like it, yeah same old battlefield with some extras, getting a smooth 42 fps on 4 k full ultra, quite impressed really Gsync is doing well for me there.

I personally think the ray tracing crap will be a waste of time ,there is so much detail in the maps you will not be looking out for any reflections its hard enough to spot the enemies LOL

They've actually toned it down since it was first shown as it was blatantly overdone to show it off. It's already pretty hard to spot people through the battlefront 2 assets of swirling leaves and birds flying around pavements.

Plays really well on my Ryzen 1800X and 1080. It's more of the same but I really enjoyed BF1 so I'll be snagging this.
