*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

Guess EA/dice don't value BF vets, didn't get into the alpha 1 and still no phase 2 key either *&%$ EA

I think new keys will be limited, they want people who played the 1st alpha to play again to see how the changes feel. Giving out a new batch of keys won't get them the feedback data they want.

I'm happy to wait until beta.

Played alpha 1 and wasn't blown away, looking forward to seeing what's changed though. Do like that they're trying to make it more squad based though - even if I've yet to play with a decent squad.

Anyone else playing the alpha feel free to add me, good to play with some regulars :)

Its mainly weapons tweaks afaik, i don't think much else has changed though the squad system will hopefully work this time around.

I despise this ******* map

A true battlefield for the series fans then ;)

I find I hate quite a few of the maps at least initially in any bf. Most I learn to tolerate, some I will always despise, and a handful will be good, and if we're lucky one or two which are actually great. As always with bf though a map might be rubbish for one game mode but better for others.

Whoop whoop :D

Nice! You open another account to get the code then, or have they forgiven you at last. ;)

The lord himself has forgiven my sins :D

From our lord and saviour, donald trump has presented us with more keys, better be quick!

Oh this will be interesting to read some slate, blue or purple?

;) :D

Not much to slate as everything I complained about in bf 1, which made the game casual and **** has been removed (funny that eh? Only took the player base to dwindle and for all the youtubers etc. to finally realise a few months later and stop playing and move onto something else....... ;) :p)

Crutch mechanics removed:

- behemoths
- one hit, one kill sniper mechanics
- elites
- suppression
- gunplay back to old way (with more recoil)
- spotting reduced

Only things I dislike about bf 5 so far are:

- medic revive animation (going to limit people reviving even more)

I'm sure there will be more but as it is, this already a million times better than BF 1.

EDIT:

BTW, I remember a while back, people saying, mouse feels floaty etc. there is a new option called pre-rendering frames, turn that off.

Wow, I am surprised, thought I'd see a wall of hate still. So you'll be buying this one, as in the first week. Not pretend you'll never buy it then do and clock up 400 hours still.

Again, why wouldn't I buy it given the above????

BF 1 hate/moan/slate, whatever you want to call it, was and still is justified hence why DICE/EA have removed all of those things for bf 5..... And hence why people are vastly preferring this to bf 1 already..... Clearly people didn't like those mechanics in bf 1 otherwise they wouldn't have removed them, just a shame most people couldn't see how problematic/annoying those things would be from the get go rather than viewing the game with rose tinted glasses for the first 6 months....

PS. I didn't buy bf 1 till about a year later and only because they made the game a bit more tolerable, plus I only have 234 hours in bf 1 which is hardly anything for me, compare that to the 1400 hours I got in bf 4 alone......

DICE appear to have removed elites as they were in bf1 so far, this is good.
No behemoths which is also good, but they have added squad rewards which may or may not included overpowered cheese (we will see).
Conquest system is as we preferred before, but I fear there will be conquest assault only maps (and IMO conquest assault is poor).
Snipers will be one hit killing at least as often as before thanks to attrition (They're more likely to hit a player who doesn't have 100% health).
Suppression still exists, but it audio/visual as it should be not magic super spread.
Spread still exists but has been toned down subtly in favour of more forceful (and less controllable) recoil.
Spotting was broken in the last alpha (you would autospot people in your aiming cone) it is supposedly completely gone from using q, but exists with spot flares, and you will get spotted when you are suppressed now. I found the spot marker more of a visual hinderance than a help if you actually placed it on your intended target.
Gunplay is nothing like previous titles even though it still uses the original balancing factors (recoil, spread, bullet velocity, max/min damage and dropoff range with specific modifiers for the first shots vs follow up shots).
They are still attempting to balance guns for ranges (as they should) but it looks like classes will have weapons available for different ranges rather than being forced into one meta engagement range.
The recoil change is certainly interesting, but might cause some interesting balancing issues or at least some weapons which are rubbish while others OP. And may make it hard it make adjustments to damage models/ bullet velocities and bullet drop off ranges without breaking some weapon or another.

To go further into my last point, look at the changes they made to the STG for this alpha where the BTK (bullets to kill) were effectively increased by one bullet. If the recoil model before was say up,up,up,left, left, right,up (as a random example), with that, the first 3 shots should be easy to control, and after that it takes more practice/skill. A simple change moving from a 4BTK to 5 BTK makes the gun in theory much harder to use, while another gun with a less punishing recoil pattern may become the easier weapon to use after the change. I worry that they will struggle to balance the weapons like this against each other but we will see.

I don't know what values we will see for the first shot spread multiplier which has traditionally been used to prevent high rate 1 shot bursts with 100% accuracy, but I'm sure it will still be there as one shot taps would only be considered skillful if you tap at the right rate (i.e. lower than the max rpm of the weapon).

I do suspect that 2-3 shot bursts will be popular to stay within the more predictable (or controllable) parts of the recoil pattern and minimizing spread.

Overall I think there will be less spray and prey with full auto weapons except in CQC where everyone bunny-hops anyway.

One thing I really want to see the back of is optic parallax sway which I can't stand personally. Also ADS times should be super quick for irons compared to scopes.
