I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT EXPECT THIS!!!

Khan fighting Canelo was a huge step up for Khan, it was plain silly lets be honest. But this is just INSANE! Kell is technically brilliant but I'm afraid he won't be able to hold off this beast for 12 rounds.

Can only assume that Eubank was all talk. As soon as I heard Eubank Snr's comments post his last fight I doubted the GGG fight would happen - he was already trying to deflect the blame for the fight not happening before it was off.

As for Brook, you have to assume Vargas bottled it. Hearn had to get Brook a big fight but there's no way they took this fight over the Vargas fight - GGG would have only been a last resort.

Yeah it doesn't make sense, I was expecting the Eubank Jnr v GGG fight to be announced any day now but instead we get this from completely out of nowhere. Brook should be chasing the likes of Thurman, Garcia etc. Very odd fight to them to make. What weight is the fight at?

hearne has proper stitched up eubanks

told the media and eubanks it was all but wrapped up

few days later announces GGG vs Brook

Give over. I always had my doubts about Eubank actually wanting to face GGG. He'd already turned down 2 world title fights to chase the british title and then after the Doran fight Eubank Snr was already making excuses as to why the GGG fight might not happen.

Eubank vs GGG is a bigger fight than Brook vs GGG, there's no way Hearn is choosing the Brook fight over the Eubank fight. Hearn always says that to sell big fights he's got to chase the casual fans and Eubank, thanks to his Dad, is a far easier sell.

I wonder if there's some deal in there for Eubank to get in with GGG next.

Eubank on the undercard here, build that one up a bit, whilst kickstarting KB's stalling profile.

Doubt it. The Eubank's will go off complaining about Hearn/Sky not giving them the right deal and probably get the rematch vs Billy Joe Saunders. It looks increasingly likely that they were all talk and just wanted to associate themselves with GGG to build his profile without actually taking the beating.

As above, the Eubank fight was a much bigger fight to Hearn than the Brook fight - I don't believe for a minute that Hearn blocked/delayed this fight.

Eddie Hearn is on SSN now and just said that Eubank turned the fight down (didn't meet a deadline) and Hearn mentioned it in passing to Brook who said he'll do it.

GGG is a beast but Brook will surely push him. Go Brook!

Eubank shouldn't have called out GGG, poor show.

So apparently now GGG will fight Kell Brook instead of me in September?? I haven't been shown one contract since my fight with Golovkin was announced. I'm still ready & waiting to sign. GGG vs Brook is a joke... Brooks nowhere close to being a middleweight.

Eubank Snr acknowledged that terms of the deal had been set out in the post fight press conference for the Doran fight. He and Hearn were openly talking about it and Eubank went off on one talking about how he wanted to change the way deals are done so that the fighers get the first $ and that the fight would only happen if Sky agreed to it.

A contract may never have been drawn up because they wouldn't agree to the terms.

Just been announced

Golovkin vs Kell Brook on sky sports box office September 10th at the O2

Massively disappointed wanted to see golovkin vs eubanks jr :(

Two weight classes jump for brook whos never fought at a higher weight in his career

Just don't understand this fight but fair play to him

It'll be at a catchweight I'm sure, a few pounds short of middleweight. But it seems Brook will be putting more on than GGG is to lose, Brook (of course) saying he's a "huge welterweight". Not sure about this one. Brook is good but it's hard to be confident vs GGG. It'll be much closer than Khan v Canelo but I can't see anything other than Brook is gonna get beaten uppppppp. I just hope Brook gets KO'd like Khan so he doesn't take potentially career changing damage. Also not sure what GGG gets out of fighting Brook. If he wins his reputation doesn't gain that much, if he loses then that'll hurt his legacy big time. It's not like Canelo vs Mayweather. Speaking of mismatches, I've seen a few random posts about Kovalev Vs Broner? Hahahaha. It's a stupid fight I think Broner would actually take if offered.

Listening to an interview with Hearn on why the Eubank-GGG fight didn't happen. Can't link it because of some colourful languange but if you search for IFLTV on youtube it's there.

He basically says Eubank was offered the same financial terms as what Joshua and all his other PPV fighters gets - Hearn runs the event and takes his commission with all the profit going to the fighter. Hearn claims that Eubank Snr wanted complete control of everything and wanted to charge double the ticket prices of the last Joshua fight. If true it only makes me believe even more that Eubank never wanted the fight and knew what they were asking for was never going to be accepted.

Hearn also as good as admits that Brook took the fight because he couldn't make any other big fights for him.

I must be the only person really looking forward to this. Eubank JR bores me, and even though Brook is moving up I see him troubling GGG more that Eubank. GGG would read Eubank like a book. I think Brook is way more canny and it will make for a great fight.

I'm not in the slightest bit surprised this fight isn't happening. Eubank would've had his head removed by GGG and they both knew that so took negotiations as far as they could, using the media to make it appear as if they were interested, before pricing themselves out of the fight. I'm sure we'll hear a thesaurus worth of excuses from Motormouth Jr and Motormouth Sr in the coming days and weeks.

As for Brook, he has balls the size of planets and the speed to trouble GGG, just as Eubank has, but I see GGG wearing him down, cutting off the angles before pushing him in to the corner where he'll finish him.

After this fight happens I'm hopeful Eubank will want to replicate Khan and Brook and move up two divisions to face Kovalev

I still see GGG taking Brook out, but I really hope he does well and at least takes the fight into the later rounds and troubles GGG.

Khan has recently discounted ever even facing Brook, claiming he's basically not in his league. If Brook can somehow cause a big upset in this fight it totally puts Khan in his place. Hopefully they'd then meet cos I think we still all want to see that fight.
