**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

My ZTE Axon 7 arrived today. Just got it set up and I must say im impressed so far. The sound from it is amazing compared to my sony Z3 and the 2k AMOLD display is very nice. Have not played with the camera yet but for £344 delivered I think i got a bargain.

Where was that from?

I was quite keen on giving one of these a try but then price shot up on Amazon, if you could even get one. These days I'm not so sure!

I logged into my phone account, MIUI account and the unlock tool account using my mobile number and then password, all 3 have to be the same, it worked ok for me, might be worth a try. I would try in on the PC rather than the phone.

Gearbest but it was using a black friday discount code for 13% off. I took the risk as had only brought small vaping items from them before but everything went smooth and it took 10 days for mine to arrive.

I read that for some reason the Axon 7s from the USA had better signal reception than the ones shipped to Europe. Don't know if it was right but that and zte had no idea if they were going to sell them here in GB at all I lost interest in it. Sticking with Moto x style for the time being. It's actually going well and decided to wait and see how it fares when it gets android N.

Before I try to update my wifes mi5 from a fake ROM, will it matter that I used my mobile number to request the unlock code? I registered her account using her email address but asked for the code to be sent to my mobile number as she is in the process of getting her old number changed over to a new SIM.

Also, I tried following the guides linked here and I could not get the phone to update to china stable or china dev roms. It just said it couldn't verify the rom. So I sent off for the unlock code and it came through. Am I ok to just go ahead and follow the guide to unlock and flash global rom whilst on this fake rom I am currently on.

It would display pcsuite.mi.com with pwr +vol, and fastboot pwr -vol

I tried flashing several twrp imgaes , but they all locked when I tried to enter.

Finally this one worked

I did the twrp advanced wipe and no I'm using MiFlash to put this ROM
emini_global_images_V8.1.2.0.MAAMIDI_20161107.000 0.00_6.0_global_4daea53819.tgz back on. Fingers crossed.

Once you get permission to unlock the bootloader, try with your wife's phone.
I flashed TWRP first. Was a pain because if you let the phone reboot it over wrote the recovery.
Then, I flashed a Mini 8 rom.

Worked on PC. Reason being it gets you to put in the code at the bottom to show that your a real person. On the phone it didn't display any code to write in just a symbol for a picture.

Let's hope they consider my reason to be justified. I simply put that I had a fake ROM flashed on by the vendor and wish to put a official ROM on instead so I can fully enjoy the phone.

Dropped my redmi note 3 pro hard a few times lately. Frame took a battering. The bezzle has folded up but screen is good. Might be in the market for a new phone next year.

Oh crap I just squeezed it really hard and it popped back in, great success.

I want to try a new ROM on my Mi5. Has anyone tried Cyanogenmod or ASOP for Mi5. Just wondered about the camera performance compared to Miui8?

Dropped my redmi note 3 today, replacement needed. Whats the go to phone right about now? Ideally I would like to drop down to 5", and have a better camera.

Something around the £200 mark (+/- 50)

How's the camera?

the camera app that comes with open gapps works ok.. google camera app force closes but always has problems with cyanogenmod.

i tend to use the 'open camera' app which is open source and has numerous settings to play around with.. quality is ok for me but ymmv..
