Doubt you can get something with Snapdragon 845 for under £200. But I definitely would recommend the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Global Version. I have this now and it's pretty impressive. It has a Snapdragon 636.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S can be had for £380 delivered from Aliexpress now.
I am exceedingly happy with mine, and you are unlikely to get a 845 for cheaper.

Any of you lads bought a different case for your Redmi Note 5 pro? I'm thinking of getting one of those faux-wood cases - suppose it's worth a pop for £3.

got the same phone myself (redmi note 5) however it's not really the note 5 it's the note 5 dual ai camera version as it has everything the redmi note 5 pro has bar OS iirc.

they really need to fix their naming scheme. this is the one i got. it's a mix between the note 5 and note 5 pro
for £160-£170 it's stupidly good it smashed the honor 9 lite it replaced to pieces. it's got all the right specs in the right places. the honor 9 lite felt like it was lacking a gig of ram and a bit of cpu grunt.
I'm still umming and ahing about the Note 5. I don't know if it will be enough of an upgrade over my Mi 5. I know I just want a 6" screen. Don't know whether to put the cost of the Note 5 towards a better phone all together but not sure what.

Just wanted to say thanks as I found this thread a few weeks back when I was looking to upgrade my phone from an old Moto G and I ended up biting and buying the Redmi Note 5 from EglobalUK for £163 all in ...
I'm over the moon with the phone and what a jump it is from my old phone - night and day.
I've got a case on it that offers a slight raise from the screen and a magnetic circle and stand ring on the back ... but I ordered 2 glass screen protectors off ebay and have one on the phone but not happy with it as it is thick, doesn't get near the edges and is hazy looking compared to no protector on and is a bit grippy on the finger.
On my Moto I had a £10 one from the 'Orzly' brand and it was superb but I was wondering if anyone can point me to a tried and tested GLASS 2.5D/5D protector that they have seen/used or their own Note 5 ?
I don't want to keep buying unsuitable ones even if they are only £3 a pop or whatever.

My Mi 5 updated to MIUI 10 yesterday. Must say I'm really liking it so far.
Didn't realise the £163 for the Note 5 from eglobal included postage. Seems best value place to get it in that case and will probably get it now.
Let me know if you avoid any custom fee. I might get mine from same place.

Is the Note 5 basically the same as the Redmi 5 Plus? If so, click the link in my sig, I have a few videos on the camera.
I've had my Redmi Note 5 for nearly two weeks now. Really enjoying it. Bit disappointed with the lack of NFC (I'll kick myself if the Mi A2 comes with NFC and wish I had waited a little longer, but the LG G4 was on its last legs). The battery is just awesome! Longest period it has gone without charge was about 35hrs, maybe longer!! Right now it's at 61% and was last charged 21hrs ago!! I'm just impressed with it! Lack of USB-C doesn't bother me all that much as I have bluetooth headset, but that's used with my Samsung tablet mainly at work.
Camera is really good. It's got some good settings, so lots to play around with. Speed of the phone is just incredible when loading apps and such. All in all a great phone and I still have lots more to discover on it!

Can check out Honor 9 / Honor 10. They have NFC, and rank high on the list for mid-range budget phone with UK warranty.
Trying to cancel my Mi Mix 2s order through Geekbuying.
They never shipped it out and said that I only pre-ordered it even though it was in stock. Now have said there's a 2 week lead time on the phone before they ship it out slow mail.
By the time I get it the Mi Mix 3 will be out, so I'm waiting for that instead, with the little ZUK Z2 having to keep up the mantle for a little longer.

no they aren't the same but there are so many different but very similar models it's hard to remember which is which. plus gsm arena haven't done any favours by saying 1 of them is known by anothers name in other parts of the world, etc.
the one most people are buying is the redmni note 5 ai dual camera
the note 5 pro is a lot more expensive. the note 5 plus is crap.
