*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

As a few people have been mentioning US accounts - I just thought it worth pointing out in case some didn't know...I'm sure that certain states apply a 10% sales tax, and some do not? So, make sure to create your US address in a state that does not apply this tax or it'll be 10% more when you checkout in the PSN store (it won't show up until checkout as far as I know)

Still haven't remembered to join the OCUK clan - I'll put a reminder in my phone to do it tonight.

Really hope I can find a game to tie me over until Diablo 3 comes out. That will keep me interested until Destiny easily but it's 4 weeks until I get that. Once this Beta finishes i'll be back to having no good games again. I'm going to give TLoU a shot but despite all the praise it gets I really don't think I'll like it.

I'm in the same boat, tried to play bf4 again last night, instantly felt disappointed by it. I wish they would just leave the Beta up and let us play until launch ha.

It'll be interesting to see what these 'new' things are when it's back up.

Also, did you see the hidden underground bunker that was found by clipping through the map?
I mean it's not like a major secret, but just a cool area that we haven't seen yet that looks like it'll be a good place to fight your way through to a boss or something.

This is the type of thing that I usually couldn't care less about. I think that my interest in Destiny is especially hyped up due to my waning interest in games recently. I really thought I had stopped liking video games but this beta has really reminded me what I love about gaming. It might even sneak back into my top 3 hobbies list!! haha
As long as getting addicted to it doesn't un-do all my good work to move up the leagues in my local Squash club recently.

While the Betas down one thought has occurred to me that while Old Russia feels old hat now, won't new areas eventually feel the same quite quickly? I'm not saying the Beta covers everything you can do in Old Russia but even with those extra missions we would still have to retread the same environment.

The issue to me is that while Destiny is all these worlds I'm finding it hard to understand how they'll keep fresh enough to feel like exploring (guess gold chests, impromptu events and the like?!?) when all these missions seem to do that (repeatedly) for you. Perhaps in the Alpha and Beta that fatigue is overly obvious...

While grind is a natural requirement and its obvious how that's achieved, I don't want to feel I'm grinding in the same environments once I've done all I need to do in that area. Perhaps thats just another facet of MMOs that I needs to get used to. I'm positive for Destiny but can't help that Bungies execution of their vision may not be big/varied enough to keep it fresh - content is king, but I don't want that new content in stuff I've walked through multiple times...

I see where you're coming from. You would hope that with multiple planets to play on, and possibly multiple continents within those there would be quite a variety of locations.

I suppose one slightly worrying thing, is that will players essentially be forced to by the DLC, or have their character rendered obsolete whilst those around them level up? Is there some kind of level playing field mechanic for the Crucible?

Not an issue for me as I'm buying the LE version, but suspect most people won't be.

What time did the codes start showing up on Bungie.net for the Playstation?

It says come back on 22nd for the Xbox one codes, i thought it was 23rd before. I wouldn't mind getting the download done today if possible.

Received mine via email at 8PM on the day the beta started, so 2 hours after it had actually begun!

I think it'll depend on how much of Old Russia we have seen in the Beta?
Is the overworld of it 100%? With only extra caves and bunkers etc to explore? Or have we only seen a part of it, with other areas looking and feeling different?

I put 80-100 hours into Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2 (each) and didn't find the world to be boring.

I wonder how big Destiny is in comparison to Borderlands.

Also, I played Borderlands solo 90% of the time, bar a few drunken 2 or 3 TV evenings with friends at mine. With Destiny, I'll be playing Solo, almost never...like 1% of my time or something.

DLC always produces this concern - how much content is held back for DLC that should really be in the game? I guess the main positive to take from it though, is that if you like the beta, it's easy to see that you will at least get your moneys worth from the full release.

Even if you get bored after 5 hours in 1 location, with 4-5 more to explore then you're going to get 20-30 hours out of the game quite eaisly. More if you play Crucible.

I'll get >100 easy, but to me, anything over 20 or so is worth £45.

Yeah I'm not pessimistic, just with the Beta doing so well I think a lot of people are getting hyped for their own personal idea of what Destiny the full game will be - I certainly am - there's no reason not to step back and just wonder what Bungie will deliver and if there's any differences.

I'm really confused what version to get as normally I just get the normal one and buy the season pass (well the components I want, truth be told), but haven't seen a season pass mentioned. I guess I'll wait and see if that happens as I expect it would be the most cost-effective way to get all the content - though as always I'll await for what the DLC breakdown is. I've kinda assumed each planet/moon could be it's own 'WOW like' expansion - perhaps they just won't do such a season pass when the content isn't 'unique' nor is throwaway as some DLC is...

I have a worrying feeling Destiny is gonna be a money hole - hi Activision!

If anyone is interested, you can get a free Destiny theme on the PS3. Not sure about the PS4 though.

You can't get themes on the PS4 yet - annoyingly. Hope they change that soon

Yeah I'm just going for the normal version and waiting to see what happens. I don't agree with all these 'editions' and content variation between versions like but if people want them that's cool.

I hope the DLC is unique, and worth buying. I think it will be, but time will tell.

I had it on pre-order from Amazon but I think I'll go digital. It costs more but I just got £30 off £70 of PSN using a very.co.uk code so guess that negates the price difference. As soon as I received them in the post I'll just close the account down.

So hopefully more info on future expansions will reveal what the best way to go is for that. Given their expected life cycle of the game, I don't feel comfortable buying all of it upfront as it could take years to get released. So it's likely I'll just buy them as they come unless I really feel i'll be playing this on and off for a number of years (which is certainly possible, even probable at this stage)

This is my position too. Will buy digital and see what happens with season passes/DLC later. Can I ask you to post the Very deal here please, as may do this myself too. Presumably this effectively is £70 of PSN credit for £50?

Sorry I left 'unique' in inverted commas but didn't explain myself properly - more that while the environments should be unique the type of missions they contain will be similar across the board.

So while its still new content it is still likely more of the same - that's the nature of the beast...

You make a solid arguement why some are going for the limited edition :p. Having a 'season pass' for the nearest DLC while the game is still very relevant could be a worthwhile upfront upgrade. I'm considering it - just loads of time for them to give more details though...

Just downloading this now.. looking forward to it.. might even pre-order if the beta is any good..

(What's the crack on the very.co.uk money off deal?)

http://www.vouchercodes.co.uk/very.co.uk

You have to open a credit account though so many don't like this idea. But it only takes a few minutes to open. Once you have it, just add 2x £35 PSN cards to your order, then it'll add on £3.95 delivery. Once you add the voucher Code at checkout, it'll redeem £30 onto your account.

As it's a credit account, you'll then have an outstanding balance of £43.95 - which can be paid immediately with credit/debit card as with any online order so you're not really using the credit account.

As long as you don't mind opening a credit account, it's simple £70 for £44 after postage.
I already had 1 and closed it after a previous deal so just used my wifes name instead and it worked fine.

Just takes a few days to get them.

Yes that'll probably be true. I mean they can't change the core gameplay of 'go here, shoot these things' etc. Using Borderlands as an example, they had some good and bad DLC packs. Core mechanics were always the same as expected, but some of the DLC offered something interesting enough to be worthwhile. Some of it just felt like it could have been i nthe main game, some felt like it really had to be DLC.

More importantly is that they focus on the core release for now - and although DLC is already planned, I at least haven't heard as much about it as with some titles so I feel a little better about that. I've learnt not to trust games companies though but the main thing for me is that i'm happy that i will enjoy the release as it is initially.

I've regreted premium on BF4 so I'll just approach future DLC with caution and assess them individually.

Still - it's given me renewed hope that I can keep enjoying gaming as a hobby in the future. Hopefully other games on my horizon impress me as much as this has so far.

I feel cheeky asking but does anyone have a spare beta key at all?

It seems a lot of people are getting 3 but I can't seem to get my card to work online at the moment... If no luck I'll try again tonight with shopto but I'd like to try it first.

Remember the code you get you need to redeem on bungie and not straight onto your console
