*** The Official E3 2015 Thread ***

One thing I dislike about these conferences is that whilst some people like Bethesda will announce a game like Fallout 4 and then you can get it in the same calendar year.

And there is something like Final Fantasy remake, or any kind of announcements of games that they have probably no more than 6 months into it, and still 3 years away.

And then there is games like The Last Guardian which was announced back in 2009(?) and then nothing and then after all that time, they have a last gen graphic looking demo and that's it. And it is still unfinished with no release date.

I wish they could all be like Bethesda, the last 2 is a waste of time. It is actually a disappointment to come back year after year showing another trailer that shows nothing more. Come back when you have the game ready to ship or with a release date on the calendar.

Another thing I have noticed - remake.

There seems to be this industry wide from gamers that they want a remake of an old classic to modern platform. Final Fantasy 7 is a prime example.

Whereas with movies, on the same level, some films should never be remade, ever. Like The Godfather.

I think sometimes we should take a leaf out of movies, leave the classics alone, don't ruin the memory.
Final Fantasy 7 has aged really badly though, like really badly. It looks pretty bad compared to the rest of the PS1 era Final Fantasy games, so I can see why they've made the choice to remake it.

I'd personally much prefer they remade 9, as I don't get the hype around 7 (outside of it being the first Final Fantasy game that a lot of people played), but objectively 7 needs it more, because 9 still looks somewhat decent nowadays.

Agree on FF7 remake.

Have you seen Barrett from original?

Hammerfist!

Pretty decent presentations from both I thought. Lots to be excited about. Bethesda also did a good job. I'm not too bothered about BC I'm more interested in new stuff. Great for those who are into it though.

Sony showed more things far far down the line, which they all will probably get repeated in 2016 E3.

MS show more content that you can get your hand on in the next 6 months.

As for which one stole the show? FF7 announcement but To me BC is a bigger deal. Coming from a big FF7 fan.

This years E3 is like someone reached into my wishlist and granted it.

Its probably the happiest the event has left me in a long time. More so than when the event gave out new console launch news

I think backwards compatibility is a strange move. The Xbox One in my opinion did a lot to be about forward momentum; new franchises, new technology and new services so allowing games from the previous console to work feels like a backwards step. Especially given the 'remakes' that are coming out. Look! New old games everyone... but here are the old games too.

I think it's a smart move because a LOT of people haven't upgraded as they say "I've still got loads of games to finish on last gen". Well now they can upgrade and still play those games. Plus MS have started putting on offers if you trade in your 360(in the US at least).

E3 was interesting :), I was talking about it with some friends last night and I made the point that Sony and Microsoft presentations were both good (I think Sony's was stronger) however they both did very different things for audiences.

Sony has the majority of the 'new' generation consoles (PS4 has higher sales), so they have the market share of the new generation. Knowing this means that because they are in a position of having the audience then can announce more long term projects because people have already invested in the console. There are a lot of multi-platforms coming out in between now and this time next year, so knowing that people have the audience people will buy their multi-platforms on PS4 and wait for the 'big' first party games.

However, Microsoft do not have the majority of the market so their presentation was obsessed with selling the console, how do you do that? You announce three big first party games coming out in the near future (Halo, Gears, Forza) and show off the new Tomb Raider (that they have a timed exclusive on). I think Microsoft did well when you think about 'selling the console'.

They were both successful presentations, but for me Sony had the better as I'm more interesting in their first party / exclusive titles.

I've not 'enjoyed' Halo for a while, despite thinking the original is one of the greatest games ever made. Gears was excellent but I sort of fell out of love with it (although I'm super pleased that they are releasing the original for PC / Xbox One). I have no interest in Forza and I would get Tomb Raider on PC over both consoles.

Uncharted genuinely looked amazing though. I was disappointed that no games showed anything new, because I think a lot of games looked good (in terms of their visual fidelity) but found a lot of game play looked a bit bland (DOOM :( ).

Also; a slightly general point, not many games looked to be taking advantage of the 'next generation' status or hardware, I did not think that too many games looked like a huge jump over last years E3.

Also; The Division, has looked consistently worse over each E3 since it was announced.

That makes sense, as MS didn't show anything for next year really and opted for some big games like Crackdown and Quantum Break be shown in the next show.

There is certainly more coming out of this E3 than I can remember in past events.

A lot less focus on loads of BS nobody cares about - just a load of promising looking games.

MS didn't have a whole lot to interest me - certainly nothing to convince me that an Xbox One should be considered any time soon. There conference was good, but the problem they have is I have zero interest in their 3 biggest franchises (Halo, Gears, Forza). I've tried various games from each, and didn't like any of them and none are doing anything new this time.

There was some cool looking new IPs so I'd be interested to see how some of those develop.

Battlefront had me pretty impressed so I'm not looking forward to that a lot. It's the damn sound effects that get me! lol

FF7 remake is obviously a bombshell as nobody seen that coming...but can they make the changes without destroying what the game was? Time will tell.

Nintendo stuff looks awful, but I didn't expect much else from them as they have nothing of interest to me to start with.

Square enix was cringe-worthy, but they did have a lot of cool content to show when they actually got around to it. Their presentation style was just pathetic though.
But KH3, star ocean, nier 2

Dark Souls 3 was also a surprise for me. My fave series ever so obviously excited to see if they can get back to the quality of DeS and Dark 1

Combined with backwards compatibility it seems MS were primarily targeting X360 owners with franchises they are already familiar with this E3.

Only thing is it doesn't really do much for people that weren't interested in that last gen...

BTW Dreams was a new concept - doesn't even use polygons...

ps3ud0

The main takeaway for me from E3 is that there are more good games on the way than I have time to play. This is good

I think Destiny, No Man's Sky, and perhaps some of the Tom Clancy games are going to be enough for me!
