tomanders91 said:Just wondering what you think would be best to go with my new rig, a E6300 or E4300? its going on a DS3, 2gb of Geil and a G80GTX. I will most probably be overclocking at some point.
xsnv said:Hmm...this board is much worse than the abit. The vdroop is really killing me. Prime runs fine till *** vcore drops below 1.43v which happens after exactly 2mins. If i raise the voltage higher it runs for longer till the vcore gets to 1.44ish
Cairnsey said:Why did you emphasise the word "does" instead of "not"
xsnv said:Phew...finally priming at 3.6ghz. the vdroop on this board is horrendous. It drops by about 0.1!!v...will let you know how i get on.
I think i'm just unlucky. Prime runs fine at 1.475 in the bios till vdroop kicks in and the vcore drops to 1.4v at which point prime promptly fails.
Any ideas?
xsnv said:lol...i'm not overclocking to gain bragging rights! If you don't believe me then fine. I havn't got wireless drivers for vista yet and for some reason I can't upload any pictures on my laptop for some reason. All the hosting sites just don't work.?
I've managed to get it at 3.6ghz overnight. Prime ran for 8hrs but as soon as i stopped it I got the bsod.
that was with 1.55v btw. I'm not sure what vdroop is tbh. I however notice that as soon as I start prime the vcore starts dropping till it's below 1.43v which is the exact point it fails prime?
I left it at 1.55v and when I got up it was at 1.48v (using asus probe). It's not stable yet but i have a feeling it's not the cpu. The auto ram timmings on this mobo are apparently really tight so i'm gonna look for decent manual ones.?
I will try and sort out those screenies though...
EDIT: What program can i use to monitor temps in vista?

Gigabyte GA965P DS3
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB
No problems with the build. Sweet as a nut. Here is the situation at present.
Its running nice & stable @ 3ghz which i am very pleased with. Will push it some more this afternnon and post results.
xsnv said:I'm currently sitting pretty at 3.4ghz with 1.375vcore. Running prime as we speak.
xsnv said:Sure...how long for?
I had one earlier in the thread at 1.35v for bout 14mins before i tried higher...
WJA96 said:we still don't have a proven 'normal' stable overclock over 3.0GHz except for Big.Wayne's.
WJA96 said:You either trust people or you you don't. It's as simple as that in my opinion.

got a 6400 here (29B), not a great one, 1.5v to do 3.5ish stable-ish! 60+'C @ 3.7 just ran TAT for 5secs and it was reset time ok at 3.2 though stock volts. pfft gone back to my 6300 (28A) @3.2 default volts as its way cooler
