***The Official E4300 Overclocking Thread***

Getting my asus 650i board today. Will try and get my chip to 3.6ghz. Got it to 3.4ghz with 1.35v in bios so i'm hoping for good results (better than easy anyway :))

Is that 3.4ghz @ 1.35v orthos stable?

If so let me know the batch...

EDIT:

Please only post screenies of orthos stable clocks....As booting into windows on low vcore DOES not mean a successful overclock. ;)

Just wondering what you think would be best to go with my new rig, a E6300 or E4300? its going on a DS3, 2gb of Geil and a G80GTX. I will most probably be overclocking at some point.

Probably a 6300 with that setup.

Hmm...this board is much worse than the abit. The vdroop is really killing me. Prime runs fine till *** vcore drops below 1.43v which happens after exactly 2mins. If i raise the voltage higher it runs for longer till the vcore gets to 1.44ish :(

Get 3.5ghz stable

before you say better m8

thanks :)

Phew...finally priming at 3.6ghz. the vdroop on this board is horrendous. It drops by about 0.1!!v...will let you know how i get on.

I think i'm just unlucky. Prime runs fine at 1.475 in the bios till vdroop kicks in and the vcore drops to 1.4v at which point prime promptly fails.

Any ideas?

Worked out how to do a screen shot yet?

I can't wait for 3.6ghz orthos stable.

Do you actually know what vdroop is?

Vdroop does not just kick in...

Prime fails cause its a failed clock.

You xsnv are destroying this thread.

lol...i'm not overclocking to gain bragging rights! If you don't believe me then fine. I havn't got wireless drivers for vista yet and for some reason I can't upload any pictures on my laptop for some reason. All the hosting sites just don't work.?

If you can post here then you can get to photobucket.com

I've managed to get it at 3.6ghz overnight. Prime ran for 8hrs but as soon as i stopped it I got the bsod.

that was with 1.55v btw. I'm not sure what vdroop is tbh. I however notice that as soon as I start prime the vcore starts dropping till it's below 1.43v which is the exact point it fails prime?

You just said it passed? You use the term Vdroop throughout your posts and now say you dont know what it is?

I left it at 1.55v and when I got up it was at 1.48v (using asus probe). It's not stable yet but i have a feeling it's not the cpu. The auto ram timmings on this mobo are apparently really tight so i'm gonna look for decent manual ones.?

You say its not stable yet? But yet it passes prime for 8 HRS? Just slacken the timings thats it. Max out the cpu first

I will try and sort out those screenies though...

EDIT: What program can i use to monitor temps in vista?

Well its not hard TBH.

Received my order yesterday.

E4300
Gigabyte GA965P DS3
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB

No problems with the build. Sweet as a nut. Here is the situation at present.

Its running nice & stable @ 3ghz which i am very pleased with. Will push it some more this afternnon and post results.

Nice clock for you...And nice screen shot of stability ;) well done mate.

I'm currently sitting pretty at 3.4ghz with 1.375vcore. Running prime as we speak.

Email me a screenie please of this... (address in trust)

Also whats the batch number on the chip?

As there was no way I could run orthos stable at 3.4ghz @ 1.375v

If you are then I want one of those chips with the same batch.

xsnv said:
Sure...how long for?

I had one earlier in the thread at 1.35v for bout 14mins before i tried higher...

8hrs.

At 3.4ghz and 3.6ghz

have speedfan open too along with cpuz when you take the screenie.

Oh whats the batch number on the box?

You either trust people or you you don't. It's as simple as that in my opinion.

There is no excuse in not pressing print screen on your keyboard.

If someone is claiming 8hrs orthos stable @3.6ghz then I want to see it.

As there is no evidence to support that this chip will clock to this speed and be stable for 24/7 use.

Its not hard to print screen

If i could have got 3.6ghz orthos stable with e4300 then I would be happy to post a shot.
The only reason why people wouldn't is because they are talking BS

Small FFT will show cpu limit for me.

dont care about the ram...

I wanna know the max clock of the cpu.

The ram is second in this equation and can be tweaked at a later date.

The 4300 is a fantastic cpu for limited mobos and cheap bang for buck systems

However the 6000 series still gets my vote.

I have a 6400 here that I installed earlier this evening an its @ 3.7ghz @1.55v running orthos 2hrs in :D

Well to be honest I'm a bit shocked about this 6400

I never would have thought that 3.7ghz was on the cards....60c full load too :)

I mean I only ran my 6600 at 3.6ghz

This 6400 only cost me 120 quid :p

Yer just plain jammy! :p Looks to be a corker so far.

got a 6400 here (29B), not a great one, 1.5v to do 3.5ish stable-ish! 60+'C @ 3.7 just ran TAT for 5secs and it was reset time ok at 3.2 though stock volts. :( pfft gone back to my 6300 (28A) @3.2 default volts as its way cooler

7rhs and counting

this chip is something else :D
