I wouldn't have thought FM would be corrupting games. Something else could have caused a problem. Perhaps an antivirus trying to scan the savegame whilst it was being saved?

Nah I never run my AV when im on the system, only when I'm out or asleep. It is a known issue, as I found out after it happened.

Just started playing this with a mate over hamachi and started at Tottenham... £0 transfer budget :p

My mate started as Villa and sold Barry to City for £30 mil LOL

he could have got more than that, on my wigan game he went for 75 million and it said it could rise to 80+. city throw the money about.

10 days, wow.

Anyhow, has anyone elses activation program gone to the dogs? Just about to have a look on the SI forums regarding the problem but I thought i'd give a heads up here too incase its not just me.

I've gone to launch the game from Steam, only for the SoftAnchor activation client to start and tell me my cd key has already been registered and I therefore cannot play the game I legally bought nearly a year ago.

If I find a solution i'll post it here.

Edit: Hooray, looks like a re-install job :/.

Not had that myself. Sounds weird.

Did you find something on SI Forums then to suggest a reinstall would be the best option?

Yeah, it seems to be an error with the activation program and their advice was pretty much uninstall, delete all content in the games directory, restart and reinstall. Game seems to be working fine again now, I just hope my Blackburn save still works!

Hmm, on checking it seems to have reset the database size in my game to small... Oh well.

Ah. Probably an error born out of quite a new activation system perhaps.

Your save should still work. Its the same version of FM anyway!

Your save game should dictate the size of database it uses. FM might say its using a small database now but that should only really affect any new games you make. You can change it to large if you want.

Not sure how much FM10 will cost on Steam but I'm seriously considering buying it that way. Even if it is a bit more expensive than getting a copy through the post or going to Morrisons as I did last time. The higher cost could be worth it if SI have anything like the trouble they did last year on the weekend of activation with a massive DDoS attack on the activation servers and phone lines. :D

Plus I don't even have to leave the house to get my favourite game installed.

I'm thinking I may take that option too. Only problem with 09 was it being a tenner extra on Steam at release.

Its strange, all of the players from the large db are there so i'm guessing its just an error with the reinstall or something. Atleast my team is still together :p. I may try to get some screens up in a bit of my progress in an attempt to get a thread revival going!

It was?!

£5 or less and I'll Steam it. £5 or more and I'm off to Morrisons. :D

On release I think Football Manager was £35 on Steam with it being around £20-25 in high street stores. Can't remember quite how much I ended up paying however I remember it being cheaper than Steam.

I did enjoy playing with boca juniors, since i didn't know anything about them.

was quite good fun to take these young brazillians to world champions and the like.
