The Official Football Manager 2010 Thread

Can't remember if I posted about him, but yeah he's awesome. I sold him in my Man City game because he was too old (this was like...26-27 :p) compared to what I had at the time. I trained him to be an AML, and he would generally be one of my top scorers/assists.

Some regens that iv found.

Haven't touched FM since 2006 but saw this for under a tenner and couldn't resist. Are there any good training schedules I can download to save me time tweaking?

A tenner is a quality price! Urm get on Fmbase and theres a fair few people who have set up training schedules (cant remember which one im using but its been pretty good so far) also a good place to get a facepack and such likes :)

who you going to be first??

Not actually sure, I followed very little football over last year and don't support any team. Used to live in Sunderland so played as them most of the time, which also gave me an opportunity to build the club up (never started a game as a top club).

has anyone gt any recommendations for decent/promising players for (not necessarily from) a championship club?

i just got promoted as brentford after the first season, and am struggling for anyone good. got alan tate, david heath and ryan bertrand on frees, and have employed an uber defensive formation (3 centre backs, a defensive midfielder and two wing backs) but now only have about £15,000 of wages left.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

i'd als had a quite successful run with WBA, siging neymar, kadlec, sandro, etc. and had 3 successive top 7 prem finishes. Also had a couple of amazing regens, and was competing for prem league title (8 days of gaming play).

my laptop broke :(

The two I use are DarkStarr and Tug's; my preferred one being Tug's. Not sure where you might get them, but they are easily Google-able.

Well this summs up my night last night :D

Well you're pretty much already doing what you can. The best tactic is to pick up the premier league youth rejects, as well as the reserves for the top teams that may be transfer listed and available for bargain fees. Spanish youngsters also seem numerous and cheap - the likes of Barcelona, Real and Athletico Madrid regularly letting quality youngsters go for <£500k.

Personally, whilst the 'star' rating system on the game is interesting (and relates to the PA and CA of the player) the key thing is performances. I've had players playing in the premiership that only have 1 or 1 1/2 stars and are as solid as anything, so use your judgement of a player's actual stats as to whether a player could be useful rather than your scout's stars.

Oh yeah the best thing to do is hammer man city's reserves list, Jo, Bojinov and Santa Cruz tends to get transfer listed and ones always a good shout for a ccc club (or first season of the prem).

Yeah this one does 3d and everything, the tatics creator is the madist thing really, i found it best to spend a bit of time just playing about with it to see what type of formations/player roles you like (currently i love a 4-4-2 with one defensive midfielder and 3 offensive)

Finding myself little overwhelmed at the moment trying to get to grips with the new game. Decided to go with Sunderland again and finding it rather tough, only £4 million transfer budget and only managed a 4 major signings which now pushed my wage bill above the limit so can't even loan anyone on top. My midfield is lacking in quality attacking midfield players and strike force is basically the original one consisting of Bent, Jones and decided to keep Campbell in case anyone gets injured until I find a better replacement. Problem is if I get an injury crisis (which is inevitable I suppose) I'm pretty stuffed. Only signings I managed are Fernando Gago, Nicolas Otamendi, Mahamadou Diarra and got myself Jonjo Shelvery as a future prospect (most of these on 48 month repayments since I had very little initial budget). Also got Edgar Davids for free on 1k a week to bolster my reserve squad :p

Having somewhat of a massive turnaround with Sunderland now, actually getting good results and while I'm only 3 months into the first season I'm placed 5th and out the blue board just gave me £32.5 transfer budget! I'll be doing my best to get Adriano now on bosman rule and thinking I may invest into a quality attacking player and defender (Otamendi doesn't seem to be doing well at unfortunately).

I kept Ariaudo over Otamendi personally. Attacking, Hazard and Ozil are both young and very good.
