****The official Gameplay/Machinima video thread.****

Ok lets try and make a video thread for games. Anything interesting you've found in a game. Maybe different routes to take or amusing events whlist playing . Even maybe a great round of CSS you had. Im sorry I don't currently have any myself but I'll add one as soon as I can. This is also a good place to add any Machinima you may have made or maybe you've seen one thats funny that not many people have seen.

Rules:

1. Name of game must be posted.
2. File size must be posted.
3. A brief discription of events so people can choose whether to download.
4. No swearing.
5. No scoreboards :D

Suggestions:-

Capture:

1. Fraps

Uploading:

1. eggdisk
2. Youtube
3. video.google.co.uk
4. Stage6

Converting from AVI to other file systems:

1. Windows movie maker.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example:

Game: Flatout 2
Discription: A quick replay of me in derby mode for test purposes.
Filesize: 8.33mb
Filetype: WMA

Flatout 2

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heres some advice from platypus

Steps I take to record a video:

* Record everything using fraps
* Stick it together in Vegas Video
* Make titles in Macromedia Flash
* Apply Special Effects in either VV or Adobe After Effects
* Convert Soundtrack to medium quality wav to reduce overall file size
* Export video full frames uncompressed
* Compress video using VirtualDub to Xvid/join with Compressed soundtrack
* Run AviSynth scripts to post process the video: clean up dirt/pixellation and improve quality.

I wonder, whats the best way to post videos? Do you need screenshots before positing?

Just record your video using fraps and also take a screeny during the record process and resize the screeny to something like 640 wide and link to the video through the screenies thumbnail :p

can i suggest some sort of brief synopsis too? so we can judge if it's worth watching or not and if we like the look of it we can perhaps buy the game (for example). will save all the "what's the game?" questions?

Ive added some rules. Can anyone think of any others. Also if anyone knows of good software to use for encoding or sites for uploading. Or if theres anything other then fraps for recording (something free maybe:D). Please let me know and I'll add that info to the first post also.

How come my divx converter doesnt like my fraps avi files. Its always shows an error when I try to convert them.
fraps uses its own codec to encode the files to avi, I found only winavi does convert them without any issues and also windows moviemaker 2 which is free! (my last video was done with windows movie maker 2 btw)

9mins @ 30~mb at good quality is very nice.

1) Quakeworld
2) 298meg (worth it for anyone who's played Quake before)
3) A mix of frags, tricks and funny stuff from dozens of players. Starts off with cockups (teamkills, suicides etc) and then moves on to the proper action - stick with it :)
4) Sure thing.
5) If there is, I'm not in them :)

If anyone likes it, there's a whole host of others on that server - and also medium/lower quality versions for people worried about the filesize.

Whats the best free software to convert avi to divx?

A good start there from platypus

And thats it :)

Virtualdub is awesome for compressing.
