Its almost as stupid as random people suddenly deciding they've made an OFFICIAL thread. They need to get a dictionary or something.

What do you suggest then to make a thread stand out as being 'the' thread to use on a particular topic?

Not sure if I understand you right or not.

But its practically impossible to group threads together unless they are constantly active.

It's just annoying how people are making threads with stars in them. It's getting a bit tedious now some how adding a few stars and the word official makes the thread superior.

And yes I know I have an "official" thread in the sticky but I was asked to make it.

I think the "Official Threads" have their place and they do keep the amount of duplicate threads down... that said, I'd rather have four or five threads about a something if I'm looking for a certain piece of info than having to go one 200+ page long thread.
 
It's fine, as is calling something "Official" - it's just a thread title after all.

If you've got enough time to get moody over something so pointless then you need to get a life.
