**The Official iOS 4.2 Thread** (Both recent threads into one)

Unsure whether anybody else has noticed, but you can't stream video from yur camera roll to apple tv via airplay, there just isn't the option. Massive oversight, and I'm sure it was one of the key features advertised in the keynote?!
 
Well the official 4.2 release has completely ruined my iPad. Consistent WiFi issues with it dropping out. Thanks very much Apple!

Weird how it hasn't broken anything for some such as me but then for others it breaks stuff

Just try a restore and set device up as new and not a restore, if you want to

They've had WiFi problems in the past and fixed them so

Yup it's free for iPhone 4 owners but 3 and 3GS still have to pay for the service with a MobileMe sub, might be free for all iPhone users in the future but it's apple so only jobs knows

Officially yes, but the Airprint files from an earlier release are available and it takes about 2 minutes to create an Airprint service on a Windows pc, set mine up last night and it prints perfectly to a shared network attached printer.
 
From my experiences I have to say that iOS 4.2 final is the worst iOS update I've seen in quite a while overall - on my iPad anyway as I'm not applying it to my iPhone 4 just yet.

I freshly installed 4.2 over the 4.2GM last night, and got smacked in the face with the wifi bug. I did a network settings reset and still no luck. I did a fresh 4.2 install again and so far Wifi has been fine.

Except as of this morning I have no sodding Screen rotation icon in the task switcher now! So I'll have to do another fresh install and then sync later when I get home!

On top of that Airplay to my Airport Express just doesn't do a thing. I know it works as my uMacbook can stream to the AE just fine.

Looking at the MacRumours forum scares the hell out of me with 4.2 posts all over the shop, and the Apple forum is almost as bad.

I'm glad I checked this thread first. I shall hold off updating my iPad and iPhone 4 until people are happier.
 
I thought the GM version anyway is the final release one anyway? So wouldn't think there is a wi-fi problem. I didn't encounter anything last night, will have to see this evening
 
Well I'm taking my iPhone 4 to Milton K's Saturday to get it exchanged as 4.2 seems to have given it a call dropout issue and after 4 restores and numerous calls to applecare still has the issue :(

Indeed it is the final release, except there were 3 revisions of 4.2GM and I used the first. A second and a third were seeded to developers later with fixes and apparent fixes for the wifi bug. The third revision is what we have here as our final version aka 4.2.1. I'm not letting this thing touch my iPhone 4 anyway.
 
Just jailbroke my iPad anyway

Tethered, BUT it seems like you can restart it. And everything works but jailbroken stuff won't until you do the jailbreak again.

That's good, the last tethered JB I had was if you restarted you couldn't get on at all

WOuldnt be of any real use to me, TBH I wouldnt really call that a JB, I Know techncally it is, but, well ,its still not lol, think ill jsut wait it out!
