As said it has left me shocked. I read stories about people spending most of their day on a phone, I believe it's even been featured on The One Show. However, it's the first time I've ever seen anyone list their use like that. I thought I had misread it at first. I'm sorry if that offended you it wasn't my intention, but it really has taken the wind out of my sails.

Do you need a lie down? :p

It's pretty annoying they've made the base model 64GB, but I know they've done it on purpose as the vast majority of people can manage with 128GB very easily, making the 256GB option almost redundant.

I've voted 256GB Space Grey, but I'll only get it if Face ID works as well as I hope, certainly won't be a launch day purchase.

I'm not at all worried about the notch, it's logical to have the battery life and time either side of it. If app developers can't make good use of it, they can just have a black bar along the top and have the time/battery life in the default positions. I don't see any drawbacks aside from zooming in pictures etc, but that's not a huge deal. OLED will make it very easy to blend in.

Or perhaps they're not overly impressed with what the 8 offers over the 7 and aren't prepared to pay silly money for the 10 so are doing nothing for now.

The sort of people who will be ordering the minute the system goes live will be waiting for the X. Mark my words. They'll sell like hot cakes and it will be a struggle to get one.

Anyway, most of the 8's are on backorder now.

The problem is I have no alternative. I'm sad and rich and spend all day on my phone, what the hell else can I get for at least £999? I've looked at the Lamborghini branded and Vertu sets, but I prefer iOS.

:D

The notch at the top looks bad on screenshots but it looks good on the phone itself. OLED is critical for that too.

I think the price is easily justifiable really, you can’t have a £700/800 phone and then claim £1000 is the magic threshold where it becomes too expensive.

In terms of the water proofing of modern phones, could you literally jump into a swimming pool with the Iphone x, take under water photos etc, or is it splash proof? I would be too scared to test it lol

It's water resistance, not proofing, so while it may be fine underwater, there is a degree of risk and water damage isn't covered under the warranty.

Think of it as a safety measure rather than a feature.

Really that old chestnut? Funny how most tech experts now agree there's almost nothing to separate both OS's. I run both and I certainly wouldn't make this type of tribal claim.

It's personal preference, just because both are good doesn't mean someone can't prefer one over the other.

Anyway, as suggested, if you want to debate the merits of both (trust me, it's pointless), make a thread for it.

TouchID is near on flawless for me, obviously if your hands are covered in crud or worn then it’s not going to work. Same way FaceID won’t work if you’re wearing a gas mask. Everything will have some sort of limitation.
