It's not misinformation, it's personal experience. I used Android for about 4 years.

You appear to be telling me that my personal opinion is wrong?

Are you just in this thread to post anti-Apple comments?
I've been making good use of the ignore feature, and it has made the Apple forums so much better...

Again more misinformation, I say in my post I like the X but as I don't care about the OS and given the Gs8 can be had for £500 less then on this occasion I would have to plump for the Galaxy. That's hardly being anti-Apple it's simply about cost on two pretty equal phones.

As for your personal opinion regarding Android, it's got nothing to do with it, what you said regarding apps is just plain wrong as others hsve pointed out.

Nothing else to say on the subject so it's a case of moving on.

Open music file, get asked the question.
Open PDF, get asked the question.
Open a word document, get asked the question.
Open a picture, get asked the question.

Yes I'm aware of default apps and that they can be changed on Android. It's just one of the many things which bugged me about using Android.

Open a file on my iPhone and it opens it, without asking me anything.

I played with an S8 at work, nice phone but not for me. Face ID on the iPhone X is also vastly superior to anything else I've used on any device.

It's a mechanism for unlocking a phone. Touch ID Face ID, PIN, Swipe, who really cares? That's a pretty thin reason for buying an expensive phone.
I care, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it. I don't even have to think about unlocking my phone, I swipe up and it's on the home screen. No putting my finger or thumb anywhere, no passcode except on rare occasions, no finding a sensor on the rear, no iris scan nonsense, no getting fooled by a photo, no wet/sweaty finger issue anymore. Nothing, swipe up and it's unlocked, simple. Another thing is that I don't have to use Android.

I don't think ChrisD was saying that THE reason for buying an iPx.

I think the point is that the sum of the parts in an iPx makes it a worthwhile purchase FOR SOME, not all. The integration of apps and accessories / fit and finish of the handset / backup and support / residual values and any number of other things.

Others like the choice of handsets available for Android, and the multitude of apps availble to do the same things as the built in apps.

I've personally found (via work colleagues) that the apple users have previously had Android devices, and the Android users refuse to even try an apple device - Says a lot really.

Me.....? I have an apple device and have used Android handsets for years but will not go back due to the point above.

My main reason for wanting my X. TouchID annoys me with how it doesn't work if finger is wet or slightly sweaty.

FaceID is more unreliable than Touch IMO unless you live in a cold environment and use gloves all the time.

Falls down on quite a few occasions since I've had it - in bed, wearing polarised sunglasses, eating something, had a scarf on covering my chin, wrong angle when lying on the desk.

When it does work (most of the time still) it is like magic though.

Mine arrived this morning .. just doing the updates etc .. was a bit worried at first because it seemed a lot smaller than my 6S plus .. but after a play .. very happy

I currently have both the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy S7. I can quite happily get along with either and the only caveat I would add is cost of iPhone and some lack of flexibility. Otherwise who cares apart from the sad tribalists on either side.

I absolutely love mine, coming from a 7 Plus. I give my mum my 7 Plus and I took back her 6s Plus (that I gave her last year) and im toying with keeping 6s Plus so that I can use it at home as a spare or just mazumamobile it for £215. Part of me thinks if I keep it I wont fully transition over to the slightly smaller screen, I got used to using the iPhone X and then used the 6s Plus last nite and when I went back to the X I kept going for the home button again!!

Odd, I've never had such issues. Hat, scarf, sunglasses etc. Always works. I've had it fail about 1 in 100 attempts.

I had an odd one when I got out the shower, it wouldn't unlock because my hair brushed back, that was the only difference. Was most bizarre, had to manually unlock, and I can't see how hair would make a difference, not like my hair normally covers my face so it was expecting it there, I have shortish hair :P

I think it was just admiring the view and got in a fluster. :D :D :D

As you've confirmed identity by entering your passcode within the preset time, FaceID will remember that and improve for future authentications.
