I must admit, I didn't even know about this phone until yesterday but it's shaping up to be a decent phone. It seems very geared to good quality media consumption with a great screen and DAC.

Let's hope all regions get the same features this time around.

I'm sure Mr Mobile mentioned all versions have things like Wireless Charging this time around so there's hope :)

It does look lovely to be honest, really seems like just the G6 with the Snapdragon 835 and a better camera, I mean no bad thing as I actually liked that design.

Would hope that the price will be competitive this time around however.

The next couple of months is going to be hopefully great for new phones; Note 8, Pixel 2, V30, Mi Mix 2 and the iPhone 8 :D

This is definitely on my shortlist as I'm due an upgrade at the end of September.

It'll be between:

LG V30
Galaxy S8+
Note 8
Pixel 2 XL
Mate 10 Pro

A great couple of months indeed.

I do like the look but for 900 euros, thats just too much for me. But as stated lgs dont hold value anyway. Reckon i'm about 2 months away before expenses, life etc will allow me to invest so hopefully we'll actually know and maybe a nice drop. Maybe if the G6 drops a little more (uk version, warranty that is... no eglobal/grey imports etc). Currently cheapest i've seen is £419 or £499 from CPWH.

Techically as processors become more energy efficient and therefore larger batteries not required...that's the marketing speak at least :p
Don't need larger batteries. Their capacity increases about 5% a year, so should be about 4000mah for doing nothing.

Another high end phone that fails in several areas. As they all basically copy cat each other.

Having recently bought the V20 new at an excellent price(about £265 after rebates etc) I honestly like it. If this is an improvement, can only be good. Only thing I miss from my Samsung S5 is the heart monitor but all the other extras make up for it.

I wouldn't pay £800 though!

I really really like this. It has everything the G6 in Europe lacked, and then some.

It's essentially an S8+ in looks and specs, but better in some key areas. It doesn't have the Bixby crap you end up disabling, it has faster quick charging, it has a better camera configuration, better audio recording via RAM, better wide angle lens now compared to the G6, better main camera with wider aperture lens than any other phone.

I have no qualms about the battery capacity on this phone. It has a .2" smaller screen than the Note 8 which has the same size battery, and arguably LG's OLED panels are superior to the competition (going by their larger OLEDs on the market). It's LG's first OLED phone too, so I expect the shoot-out on DisplayMate's site against Samsung will be rather interesting.

If I got a new phone this year, it would be this, or the Pixel 2 XL.

Which brings me on to the Pixel 2 XL. The livestream of teh V30 had a Google Assistant engineer telling all about the deep integration with the V30s camera and other hardware. This is a taste of how Google will be using the V30 as a baseline for the Pixel 2 XL, which LG are building. I fully expect it to also have the same, or similar capabilities as the V30, just run stock Android.

I'm pleased to see LG haven't followed Samsung in having only a tele lens as the secondary camera. It serves very little purpose other than making portraits look like they were taken on a prime lens slr, until you zoom in and see where the software blurring falls short.

A wide angle lens is far more useful.

I feel Samsung are slowly becoming what Canon are to the Photography market; ridden on their market share and dominance for far too long but have allowed others to catch up and inevitably start overtaking them in key areas.

LG need to stop putting their horrible skin on Android. It's my only major complaint with their phones.

LG Theme Store is said to be the biggest is it not? You can just install a Material theme, or install Substratum which is supported on nougat and above without root as well on LG phones?

Liking my V20 although it does lag quite a lot when launching apps and camera for no apparent reason

Hopefully this will have these issues fixed

Also no removable battery which is a shame but I could live without, especially as it is now IP68
