It's going to be Ace ;)

I for one will be glad to see the back of macOS Monterey. It's not that there's anything actually wrong with it, it's just that I have a mental block when it comes to spelling it. Does it have two rs, is it an a or an e at the end? I never get it right first time :D

Apple have posted a big list of changes and updates on their preview page but there's one big thing for me that's not mentioned on there but which makes me very excited about macOS Ventura.

It's adding native support for various steering wheels and pedals, such as the Logitech G29 and G920. I have a G29 and I've not been able to use it since the Logitech drivers stopped working, a couple of macOS versions ago. I'm finally going to be able to get my wheel, pedals and shifter out of the box and drive ETS2/ATS and F1 2017 again.

Game Controller framework
A wide variety of new and existing game controllers are supported by the Game Controller framework across Apple platforms. macOS also adds support for the most popular racing wheels, pedals, and shifters, including the Logitech G920 and Logitech G29 - source

It's in developer beta right now and the public beta is expected to start in July. You can find out more about macOS Ventura here.

macOS hasn't changed massively, it's been a sort of Big Sur made better,

Lots of good little changes, I don't need anything groundbreaking year on year and I think the last few years have been exactly that in my experience.

I think that's pretty much what I said when Monterey was released:

"This year is the first year that I was actually disappointed with the announcement,. Big Sur is fine but it's not as polished as previous releases and I'm still finding things that aren't quite right. I'd rather they concentrate on fixing the issues with Big Sur than release a new version. We don't necessarily need new major releases every year."

This is less than inspiring, the new 'About this Mac' is a bit bland.

And items that run at login no longer have the option to hide them so I'm getting multiple apps appearing on my screen when I boot.

not that I need the space but its impressive how a new OS and features can free up so much space, saving me the hassle of doing a clean install, which I usually like doing.
It's dropped support for quite a few slightly older Macs, all the drivers and framework for those models are no longer needed.

You guys know that split view is built into macOS as well?

Click and hold the green traffic light, you get an option to move the window to the left or right of the screen.

Yeah but that is not very intuitive, plus, it puts that window on a new desktop. I 'snap' windows to corners, full screen, half screen etc.
I don't know what you mean a new desktop. When I do it, it just tiles the window to either side of the monitor, no different desktop or anything. It's just the same as moving a windows in Windows to the side of the monitor. As for being intuitive, it's just a different way of doing it to Windows.

Used that function before, as Chris said it does create a new virtual desktop which makes sense for half and half screen. If you want play around further with those windows it makes less sense ..
OK, this is strange. I use it on my MSU but I've never used it on the MBA. On the MSU, it moves the window to the side of the monitor, exactly the same way it does in Windows but on my MBA, it creates a strange virtual full screen desktop thing.

Checked on my iMac and it does the same as the MSU. Both the iMac and the MSU have multiple monitors but the MBA is just using its own screen. Is there a different behaviour depending on the number of displays attached?

This makes no sense. On my MBA, I get the virtual full screen desktop thing which I agree, is pants.

And if I do the same thing on the iMac, the windows tile to the side as I'd expect. Perfectly fine and usable.

MSU does the same as the iMac. MSU and MBA are on Ventura and iMac is on Monterey.
