*****THE OFFICIAL***** MASS EFFECT THREAD

Nice one....Just started playing it today and i was like WTF?.......This is 300 set in space? :o ;)
That was pretty much my reaction too lol. I had a major hissy fit until someone on the xbox.com forums told me that it was an option.

Ah cool, I thought it might be a graphics option but I always thought about looking after I had turned the XBox off. It is way overdone. Why should I turn the blur off though?

does anyone know what the licenses are for?
They're for the normandy's salesman who is at the lowest carrier deck of the ship. Speak to him and he'll explain licenses to you. Apparently they'll allow him to sell you a greater array of goods. I've never noticed any difference...though I hardly visit him.

Was loving this game until I had to fight the guy that runs the club. I have to escape and stop someone from being ambushed. I fight my way out the club but then none of the doors open. Am I missing something or is there somewhere else I have to go? I have done this bit about 20 times and I am left killing everyone then running around in circles.

Should be in the spoilers thread I guess but:

Possible SPOILER:

[When you leave the club area (circular room), you enter that little pointless bit where the two guys tried to 'assassinate' you - go out of the door there, turn left, up the stairs and carry on down that corridor and you'll get to where you need to be.]

8 hours into this game. I thought it was average to begin with, but after getting into it it's one of the best games I've ever played, absolutely brilliant. As someone who doesn't like the stats side to RPG's I find this easy to get to grips with. Top stuff!

One question though, Assault Rifles/Shotguns aren't on my list of skills I can upgrade, will I ever be "trained" in using them or have I made that choice right at the start? Don't mind as pistols and sniper rifles suit me but it'd be nice to be good with something else :)

No. I'm guessing that you picked Infiltrator? If you use your weapons/skills enough and get the achievements for them, you can unlock one of them for you next play through.

For example I want to play as a soldier so that I can unlock assault rifles so that I can use them for the following character, which will be a biotic.

I'm about 11 hours in and i'm enjoying the story and game so far.......My only real gripe and i'm sure it's been mentioned, the frame rates during some battles can only be described as shambolic at times

But if you look past the slideshow, it's a good enough game :D

Bought this the other day, put it down in the shop and thought I will get AC and it was sold out so picked this back up, I am not a fan of RPG so I thought I would see how it is first and I could always sell it for a decent price, glad it not turn based and the level up side of things is pretty simple and I think the story great, reminds me of halo a bit but other than that its a top game.

Now that I've maxxed out the game, I miss it horribly :( /me sobs

Can't believe how much time you put into it in such a short timespan! I'll be getting the full 1k but I'm taking my time with it. It's great but it'd drive me insane if it was all I played.

Aye, it's a game I plan on playing all year, so I'm not going to rush through it for the achievements ;)

I paced myself through it so I could examine every lil storyline. I just totally enjoyed playing it! :) I went through Dead Rising about 8 times just because I loved the storyline on that, as well as the brilliant bosses. I'm definitely returning to the game later because I want to get my biotic up to max level just to see what maxxed out Singularity is like. That is one immensely powerful er power in itself.

I've also got 3 tracks from the OST on perma repeat on my iplod touch :o :p Still got to actually start reading the novel too lol

To those wanting wanting max points, just take your time and explore every quest and bit of dialogue. A lot of my mates just rushed through it once and then didn't touch it again assuming it would be the same if they played it again with another char.

You Mass Effect obsessive you :p :D
I will go back to it, I just tend to need breaks between games before replays. I've got plenty to keep me occupied for now at least.
I did start a second game but I found myself not really concentrating fully, the curse of a poor attention span :o
Hopefully once I go back in a few months, it'll hook me.
