**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

Given that MS now own Skype I would have expected that to be rolled into WP7 any time now, or at least a decent app for it.

Given the deal was only completed a few weeks ago and the phone was in design well before then. It will probably come with the next batch of releases.

Id like to know though, how many people use video calling though....

I think part of the reason is to get the kinks out of the software (and any missing features in) as well as give the marketplace a chance to grow to a reasonable size before wasting lots of money promoting it. It already has a 6ish percent marketshare after a year and is predicted to have at least 12% of the market by the end of next year.

BBC are saying WP7 has 3% of the market...wonder who's correct as you've quoted a doubling of market share.

This is Nokia's most important phone launch ever - screw it up Nokia and your company is history...

The two main phone/network statistic companies are saying 6% last time I looked (both WM and WP but WM hasn't been sold for a year and the losses for Microsoft's market share stopped a few months ago).

possibly...it's a difficult choice....6% is still pretty pathetic though don't you think? I'm not knocking WP7 but for a paltry 6% share I'd be gunning for somebody's ass on a plate...

It wasn't really viable before 7.5, I think 2012 will be a good year for wp7 and 2013 will be an absolutely gigantic year for wp8

Why did they not talk about the ace, I want the ace :(.

WP7 has only really been out for about 12 months - if the market share is still low this time next year that's when they should be worried.

Apple was targetting 1% after 12 months, ended up with around 12-15%. Their growth was explosive and unprecedented though, as they redefined the smartphone.

MS has got to 6% in 12 months. I don't think this is too bad considering 1. They haven't redefined anything, 2. They have limited supported chipsets, 3. They're competing against Android and iOS, and 4. They started from scratch (WM6.5 was irrelevant the moment iOS and Android came out).

However I'm sure MS would like bigger growth. :) I can see Nokia helping that along though, as currently if you want WM7 your choices are HTC and Samsung, and to be honest their Android offerings are better.

I'm an iPhone user, and have been since the first generation. I dislike Android as personally I consider it to be unpolished and unusable. I love WM7 for it's unique and simple UI, and Nokia as they've always been capable of great hardware. I think I'll be picking up the Lumia 800 as a second phone. :D

I've never had a WM7 phone, this looks nice ... i'm close to getting an iPhone 4S, currently got a blackberry with the girlfriend, but we both want a change, but now iphone as iMessage, yes we're sad! This does look very good though, how's the app store with Nokia?
