**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

Mine should be coming from Nokia directly I believe as part of the dev programme. Is it likely that the ones issued to devs will be non-buggy?

So looking forward to checking this out against my SGS2 and I'll simply flog the one I like the least!

"On Monday 12th December some of our customers started to comment in various social media that the preloaded diagnostics tool in some of the Nokia Lumia 800 phones was showing lower battery capacity than expected. We immediately started to investigate these reports and can now confirm that while the battery itself is fine, a software problem on certain variants is limiting the phone’s ability to access the full battery capacity. We want to stress that this issue has not been found to affect the recently introduced Nokia Lumia 710.

The good news is that as this is a software problem it can be easily resolved. The planned software update in early 2012, as well as including many performance enhancements, will also include a fix that will enable the affected phones to access the total battery capacity. For anyone who does not want to wait for the software update, Nokia can arrange for a replacement phone. Anyone who requires any further clarification should contact Nokia Care (Care contact details and locations can be found at www.Nokia.com/support).

Anyone who wants to know if their phone is affected can run the battery status test from the diagnostics tool already installed on their phone. (The tool is designed for service use and only displays approximate values.) Dialling ##634# opens the diagnostics tool. By accepting the disclaimer and then selecting ‘Battery Status’ from the list of options, anyone will be able to see their available battery charge capacity. If your full charge capacity reads less than 1000 mAh then your phone is affected with this specific issue and you may find it is necessary to charge your phone more frequently than normal. Once the software update has been applied, you should experience much better battery life. In the meantime here are some tips on how to increase your battery performance and you should also make sure you are using the charger that came with the phone, as older chargers may not be as effective at charging the new Nokia Lumia 800."

doesnt that just mean that they admit some phones are faulty ?
I will check it out on mine GF's one and if it is the case, I will ask for a replacement. not gonna wait for an update.

The phones are not faulty, they just have a firmware default that tells the wrong ( smaller) capacity of the battery, so its stops charging the battery to its full amount. The update fixes this.

Has anyone else noticed since updating the phone to the latest version that the autofocusing in video record mode is a lot faster and smooth, its by no means fixed but its taking 2 to 3 seconds to refocus.

If I bought a car and it was running out of fuel early due to a fault in the engine electronics, I would class that as faulty. The same applies to a phone!

Some phones work fine, so if people aren't happy then of course they should have them replaced! I'd be really annoyed if I bought a phone and was given a vague release date for a fix for it.

Just seen a leaked image, looks like a white, lime and purple are going to be made available in the chassis colours, I like the though of a yellow one.

Yea, because no other big launch phones have came out without any more serious in call problems or anything

Their is a fix already out, it's being rolled out for each build week after week.

Actually looking at the image again it looks different, the Windows buttons are a lot lower down and the screen looks a bit bigger.

Perhaps an earlier than expected 900?

Yeah, there has been some discussion on that elsewhere, interesting if true although the difference is so minor it seems a little odd. Maybe it's a slightly updated version for the US release? We'll see in a couple of weeks at CES I guess.

When you see the black on in person though, it does look damn sexy! I'm often just looking at it, even with the case on it looks stunning!

I think if I bought the blue one it'd have ruined the design a bit as it all looks seamlessly crafted.

Had a play with one in CPW the other day and have to say pretty impressive for a windows mobile phone as my previous experiences with them left me non impressed.

If i was going to leave blackberry then id definitely look at the new winmo phones...and the fact Nokia make such nice hardware is another plus.

Just had my phone shutdown after I let the battery run out, plugged it in and now it's been stuck on the large red and white battery icon for 20 minutes and wont boot.

Anyone else had this problem and know how to solve it? or is it just a case of waiting until it gets some charge in?

20 minutes should be enough time for a decent level of charge so it can start back up imo.
