When doing step 19 onwards, do you add the OEM files to the same folder you unzipped 8773 to, or make a new Update Cab Sender directory with just those files?

Edit, I tried to install it, but the OEM update wont install, it says no update files, maybe because they are all PKG files instead of Cabs? :(

You place the files in the cab sender folder and then flash. However, you must remove the previous set of files before starting on the next ones.

So its flash with 8112 files, remove, flash with 8773 files, remove, flash with Nokia firmware. All Done. :D

I will update the guide with this information.

Why arent the OEM files cabs? They dont install at all because they are PKGs.

Oh nvm, I wasnt meant to unzip the OEM firmware file oops.

Yay, internet sharing on my Lumia 800 at last :D

A little annoyed as the nokia site shows that my phone's update available, I tried the airplane mode, I tried checking updates. Tempting to use the CAB just so I get tethering for my tablet on the go...

Big thanks to [RXP]Andy for the guide and to bhavv for pointing out NOT to unzip the oem file, i was scratching my head for ages till i reread this :)

Wasn't going to wait any longer, updated via CABsender.

All is working and fine. Battery lasted great yesterday too. Today however, less than 6 hous since unplugging it from charger, my batter is down to 30%. Something is draining it and I had a few emails coming in every 30mins and left a couple of pages open on IE.

Anyone experienced this issue?

just to let people know the £40 app voucher that CPW was giving out with the Lumia 800 is a pre paid master card & can be used online..Just ordered myself a new keyboard with it :D as im not too fussed about apps as i just use my phone as a phone

I get errors all the time...

tried both methods ... my GF's lumia was bought from CPW so dont understand why there is no update to it via air by now...

Make sure you are using a USB 2.0 cable and port. I tried the update method above with the cable plugged into a front USB port on my PC (which is USB 1.0) and was getting errors during the update process.

I then tried a USB port on the back of the PC (USB 2.0) and had no problems. Worth a shot!

Finally got round to doing a few updates, its a Lumia 800 I got on T-mobile and I now have tethering.
I'm not sure if its a T-mobile branded one though as I got it on release (first batch Tmobile's sometimes are unbranded), is there a way to tell in from Settings->About if its branded?

Yes under about it should have 'Carrier'. If it says T-mobile it's probably locked and branded (although they never really are branded anyway, it's just a theme). If it says CV then it is unlocked/unbranded.

Just got a Lumia 800 and I'm fiddling with it now. I see that Windows Phone has its own Facebook and Twitter facilities. Is it worth downloading the official apps?

I have them on mine. However, I have personally found that I use the people hub and vary rarely use the official apps.
