Samsung mocks Apple in its latest 'It Doesn't Take a Genius' adverts - http://www.androidbeat.com/2014/09/samsung-mocks-apple-latest-adverts/

As much as people hate Samsung and their bloat on phones... Gotta give a massive clap to their marketing teams. That and they have a point on each video :p

"Note the difference" is such a good tagine.

Also did you know that at Apple's event the first 5 rows were Apple employees? Ars talked about it. I imagine the last 5 were Verge journalists :p

No wonder the Watch got a standing ovation. Employees lead, the sheep follow.

Well for me as a Note 3 owner the Note 4 offers small bumps in various areas. Nothing breathtakingly significant but they're all nice combined. The Edge has the obvious difference and a feature to adapt around daily and nightly use.

The Z3 offers something completely different and at a cheaper price (£520-£530 pre-order price, sub £500 I imagine within a month). I guess we can expect Note 4 prices to be around £600 easily given the launch price of the Note 3. Edge will likely be around that too no doubt.

Z3 is out before the end of the month too and is slimmer than the Note 4 (and 3) which is mighty appealing to boot. I guess I'm longing for a different feel now as I'm familiar with Samsung and stock Android but want to see what Sony have as videos show it to be very nice and almost stock, just gently breathed on with the Xperia tweaks unlike Samsung/HTC.

I'm an S4 owner (still!) and not sure whether to get the Note 4 or Z3. I'd like a change too as I'm getting a bit sick of the samsung bloatware and taking yonks for updates. Got a PS4 too so the Z3 is tempting me!

I'm trying to decide on my next phone too. THe bloatware annoys me on my note 2, and it's complicated to root the phone from a mac. Plus putting data on it always seems to **** up.

Anyone have experience of using a note 3 with a mac?

I'm out of the Note game :o

For this generation :p Z3 incoming :D Enjoy the Edge or Note those who are getting one but at £430 the Z3 tipped the scales as I was still deciding on which to get until earlier today.

I actually want to look forward to rainy days now just so I can use my phone outside, record slow mo videos, take wet pictures and whatnot!

I'd probably give my phone a wash once every week lol.. :D just to keep those germs off..

screen wise.. don't you feel that z3 is going to be a bit of a downgrade?

Over Super AMOLED? I'm fully expecting the lack of pure black but the Z3 screen is said to be really excellent anyway and having seen all the photos and videos of it so far and if it's anything like the Z2 then I don't have any problem with that at all.

It's also got that screen memory feature going for it making it more power efficient.

That's what 128GB cards are for!

Can't move all apps to the sd card though :-(

Amazed Sony spoilt such a good phone with measly memory, it's what put me off the Z2 too :-(

How many apps do you have? :p I have 163 apps, that includes navigation apps with local mapping installed and am just using 9GB of internal storage. Everything else has app data stored on the SD card or gives you the choice of where to store that data. Many big games do too when they install the additional game data.

The Z3 gives you just under 12GB of formatted user storage space.

Other than potential resale value depending on who your buyer is I don't see this as a problem at all these days.

I'm down to about 3GB free on my note 2, all my music is on sd card at the moment - would have been nice to have the headroom of 32GB.

I will see what the reviews of both the Z3 and note 4 say first though - no early adoption for me.

Just browsing youtube and found a comparison between Z3 and Note 4, have to admit there was a lot I didnt know about both phones;

The note 4 does seem quite a step ahead of the Z3, depending on what you want it for of course :)

Saf has a couple bits wrong there, the 64GB max support on the Note 4 is incorrect. It will support whatever is available on the market so currently 128GB. If Sandisk release a 512GB version like they have with the SDXC cards recently then those will be supported too on both handsets and older handsets alike. This applied to the S2 back in the day with 64GB cards came out and 32 was specced as the max supported. All they're doing is stating what was tested at time of manufacture, which was of course 64GB for the Note 4.

The Note 4 has better specs for GPU/CPU and screen resolution but that doesn't matter much these days given how powerful phones have become since the Note 3 so you're going to get a smooth experience no matter what on almost any modern flagship in any class of phone size.

All 3 big names for Android have different directions they're targeting their phones. HTC seems to be the premium build sector, Sony the active user with minimal bulk and minimalism throughout and it shows both inside and outside of the handset while Samsung are specs. Depends on what you want. For me, now, Sony offer more pros in teh areas I'm interested in. Battery life, waterproofing and lightweight/slim without sacrificing performance or build quality

Wait a sec........

mrk is going back to a non-OLED screen based phone........WHAT?!

:p

I suspect you will be doing a review... if so looking forward to it! :)

I came to realise that the "perfect" AMOLED screen may never happen so I simply must accept that I will likely get the next best thing :p

Although saying that, the Z3 display does have LED elements, those active LED bits and triluminos thing that means the screen looks similar to an AMOLED (apart from pure blacks :o).

AMOLED is all about the black and near perfect viewing angles from any angle/direction. It also is brighter at those viewing angles too. This has not been achieved by any LCD screen as it's not in their abilities.

Only the gamut of the Sony is mildly similar.

It is all about the blacks! ;)

:p

I love my N5 and N7 display but sorely miss the contrast ratio/blacks and viewing angles of AMOLED. Really hope the next nexus is AMOLED

Sony screen does look damn nice though! Certainly better in the screen area than what they were a few years ago, viewing angles etc. were shocking back then.

Well I'll see what the Z3 display is like. Haven't read a bad thing about it and all photos of it so far seem to be really excellent for showing off the screen from various angles.

I'm not expecting the black levels of my Note 3 but the viewing angles should be good still and it's a brighter display than the Z2 so should be just as readable outdoors as my Note 3 if not better still.
