**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

I sold my Note 4 the other day and bought a Nexus 6 instead. I'm very happy with the decision so far. Battery life seems better and much less lag.

I have to say, 5.1.1 has completely sorted my Note 4 out. This is how the device should have been from the beginning. It's quick, stable, and the battery life is back where it should be.

I noticed big improvements with 5.1.1. I wasn't happy though about paying top dollar for a phone and it only being usable a year later!

That's how I see it. It's all well and good improving the phone, but a year after release is pathetically late. The phone shouldn't have been released in the state it was.

Even then, the 5.1.1 update still left me with terrible battery life. It fixed the lag, but battery was still dire. So all in all, it's too little too late from Samsung on the Note 4.

It was my most unsatisfactory phone purchase in recent years.

The late release of updates was then exacerbated by the KNOX efuse which prevented me installing a custom rom.

Love my note 4. The efuse never bothered me and iv been using a overclocked kernel for months now. Stock rom though but the kernel made a big difference over stock.
The most disappointing thing for me was just how slow Samsung are with updates. They seem to just not care about there flagship device and it felt like after a few months they were moving onto the note 5 already.

When my contract runs out next year I definatly wont get a note 6 unless they go back to the SD card and removable battery and have some other features that other phones aren't doing.
So many companies now are making Phablet sized phones so there really isn't any reason to stick with the note series anymore. Especially after they removed the SD slot and removable battery as that was two of my favourite features. Losing the S-pen wouldn't bother me at all.

With most phones purchased on two year contracts, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect two years of support.

For a flagship device, Samsung should at least provide two years of prompt software updates?

I fully expect to be married and have had my first child by the time Samsung complete Android M across all Note 4 variants :p

This, this and this. I didn't even look at the N5 as no Sd card.

I can see myself relegated to Chinese phones by 2018 as 'flagships' are dropping Sd cards at a depressing rate. :(

They do but in the UK we appear to be the last ones getting updates. The Note 4 has most certainly been at the back of the queue for updates. My last two tablets have been from the US because updates here are so late. They've been updated months ahead of European ones.

I've just re-bought a Note 4 based on the 5.1.1 reports on here... was going to go 6P because its stock... but I just cant justify the extra £170 for a 64GB model...and I'm not a fan of that 810.

I know Android M will take an age, but the camera, screen, battery and SD slot serve every need I have for a phone and for £330... there just isn't anything else out there that can match all of the features...

So alas...I have to put up with Touchwiz and slow updates... and continue my search for the "perfect phone"

Has anybody had an issue with the sound on their Note 4?
Recently, I've plugged in a set of headphones to watch some videos and the sound decreases automatically until it mutes. Wonder if it faulty headphones or a software thing since the 5.1.1 update.

Earphones working ok with music and videos here.

It's a great device imo, even though I'm getting rid of mine.
What is a bit annoying is how inconsistent reports of 5.1.1 performance is on the Note4. Some folks are still plagued with battery and wake lock issues whilst some like myself aren't so that itself isn't too confidence inspiring.

I know I'm possibly going to regret moving away from the Note 4 (the 810 isn't a big leap) but as I've said earlier in the thread I am just sick of waiting on Samsung and chasing updates. 5.1.1 is brilliant on my n910f so far.
